I thought this looked familiar. I almost dismissed it.
The Trustfire TR-A9 uses four 14500's. $43.84. Meh.
This is the Trustfire TR-A9-2. This thing is built for a 32650. $27.10. Side clickie. Okay, now that's interesting. The threads don't appear to be anodized like they were for the TR-A9 though.
Thanks! I was just about to look into this. Now I like it! Beamshot is too purple though, the driver might be tough to upgrade, and the tube walls seem awful thin.
This TR-0124 6.5A driver $8.46 ($8.03 after BLF code) looks like it might be pretty good for an MT-G2 mod in a 3 cell light (12v). The model number of the driver in the picture show TR-0163A. Not sure if that's a mistake or not but I will open a ticket with FT to confirm if the picture is correct. Also not sure how it is only 10W if it is 6.5A. That would mean it only pushes 1.5v to the LED, no?
It looks like FastTech is selling their last few Fenix LD01 R4 units and has been blacklisted (due to MAP) from ever buying any more. At least, the product page for it suggests something along these lines. Might be a good time to pick one up before they’re gone.
I’ve thought about it, but what I really want is the stainless steel limited edition (LD01R4-SS). The plain black aluminum one isn’t as appealing to me. So, I’ll probably do a DQG Tiny AAA IV instead. Although the LD01 R4 is often considered the best 1xAAA light around, it’s also one of the bigger and more expensive 1xAAA products.
