I own a Skilhunt H04 headlamp (floody high CRI model) and quite happy with it. Only drawback is that it can not sustain over 350lm
I’m looking to get an additional headlamp (need it for a backup) and thought about Fenix HM61R.
It apparently has better runtimes and can sustain higher brightness
But I’m not sure about its colour and CRI - reviews are not clear about it, and Fenix FAQ claims 4700k for flood and 5700k for spot mode - but this light does not have two modes…
Also - how it compares to skilhunt in therms of beam flood?
Or if you know any other alternative up to 100$ with good flood, CRI and run times (not Zebra or Armytek please, since its too expensive to get outside USA)
Fenix HM61R have similar brightness 400lumen but weight and price x2. 350lm its a lot. For moooore lumens and runtime you need to buy expensive big and heavy headlamp with big and heavy battery. Check some Olight , Thrunite, Nitecore, Acebeam models
They are both 18650 lights. One is not going to sustain higher lumens AND have longer run times with the SAME battery. If the manufacturer doesn’t state the cri rating then you can always assume it’s way below 90. Don’t even think about olight. If they’re not telling you what the color temperature is and you cannot confirm it somewhere else then move on. Skilhunt has two different high cri LED options at this time. So which one is yours and at what color temperature?
Not all flood is the same. Some are going to have more flood than others. Obviously more flood means you get to see more to the sides and closer to your feet but the distance level is going to suffer at the same lumens. Many do not specify what that flood level in degrees is going to be. And even if they do you are still going to have more light generally speaking in the center then out to the edges.
I think it’s a caving light thread on CPF shows guys running two zebra lights on their helmets. You could just get another H04 and strap them both to your head…
