Hello everyone I bought a hp30rv2 which was great but developed a switch fault so returned to fenix as I only had it for 3weeks, they couldn’t replace it as the model is discontinued, so I’ve ended up with a hp35r. Yes it has a great spotlight but the flood mode is less impressive after finding out more and actually getting interested in all this I’ve found out that this model I have now steps down when it reaches 55c from 1200lumens on flood mode to 400l and the older model at 60c from 1000lumen to 800lumen and holds that level of sustained output. So as you can imagine I’m a little disappointed. So what I’m thinking is changing the LEDs from the stock luminous sst20’s to Samsung lh351d 4000k neutral white. From what I’ve read these are more efficient. I’m new to all this and would like advice on if there’s a better option although I’ve already ordered them. My thoughts are these will generate less heat and on top of changing the LEDs I’m going to add small heatsinks to the outside body to hopefully dissipate the heat quicker to help preventing it from ramping down so quickly. Any thoughts and ideas I would be grateful as I’m guessing you all have more knowledge than I have .
It will also be my first time attempting soldering LEDs with the hot plate and paste I’m gonna buy. That’s if I don’t make a mess of taking it apart in the first place
any advice on the above would be helpful to me and greatly appreciated.
