Had been thinking for a long time about buying a Fenix
Ordered myself a Fenix LD10 XPG R5 yesterday from hkequipment (and recieved a free Fenix E05 with it)
Does anyone of you guys have this light or experience with hkequipment?
I hope i made a good decision. Really wanted a light that could run on NiMh (eleoops) for all time (secure) use.
Had been thinking about a tk41 since it was also in promotion but i think i'll get more use out of the LD10 then out of a bigger flashlight.
I also was a bit sceptical against such a thrower's light (tk41)
I've planned to drag it along everywhere i go so i wanted something "sturdy". Already have a few AA lights from DX e.c. but i don't think they are up to that challenge..
Hopefully Fenix lives up to it's reputation..
I’ve had one for awhile now. It it a great torch, very well built and tough. I only have a few minor complaints. It is very thick and tough aluminum and has good runtime. I wish it was driven harder in Turbo mode though but it is still a bright torch. It reminds me of military equipment, it is very utilitarian to me. I like instaint access to low mode as well and the ability to turn on the torch in low no matter what mode it was turned off in.
i highly recommend HKE. it's a one man operated service, by Stanley Law. They are flashlight selling specialists. Prices are okay, sometimes competitive. Excellent ebay-seller rating. you dont need to worry at all.
To kreisler:
yes i also think it's a too expensive but with all these cheaper lights around i really wanted to have at least one more expensive one, just to see for myself is there will be any difference between the two. I know some people who have a few Fenix's and i really like them. Nice finish overall and feel very expensive but are still a little cheaper then the really high brands like Olight and nitecore and such
(or at least i think they are a little cheaper! :D)
Do you have a delay in the mode switching? On my LD20 I have to press and the button down for about 1-1.5 seconds before the mode switches to the next level.
Its kind of annoying, but Im used to it. On YouTube thought Ive seen people with an LD20 just tap the button and it changes modes very quickly...so I dont know how its supposed to be.
I think you might have a defective light since the only apparent difference between the R4 and the R5 is the emitter . I also use eneloops with all my AA and AAA lights with no problems. I would contact the seller to see if you can exchange it for a new one.
I bought it directly from Fenix and even when it first arrived I told them it was slow to switch and there were all "Fenix has very high quality control, everything is tested at the factory, blah, blah."
Thanks for the reply, I did all that, the light was in really good shape actually and I tightened it all up. Still about the same.
Anyway order again from DD??? I don't think they will ship our P1As so Im not about to place another order from DD. Better to pay a bit more and order from a reputable store to get service regarding lights like this (in my opinion.)
I have a R5 LD10 and it also must be half clicked for about 1 second to register a mode change. I hate that about it too. My buddy has a R2 LD20 and it registers a half click instantly. As far as you having to click the switch a few time I would say that is a bad clicky.
Thanks for the reply...Fenix Tactical in Canada has excellent service, (I will buy all my Fenix Lights from there from now on...) They gave me an RMA and I paid my 10USD and sent in the light.
(First they gave me some tips on how to clean it and use alchol and a swab but it didnt work for me.)
I hope the mode switches can be made faster like your friends.
Anyway to the OP its still an excellent light you will like the LD10 or LD20 a lot, I think its well worth it to pay a bit extra for quality.
