so it drops from turbo mode after 20 minutes ! my skyray stays on turbo for 2 hours with panasonic 3400mAh
New to the forum…sorry if this has already been discussed but does anybody have an opinion on the TK75 vs the Nitecore TM15? I really like the Tiny Monster’s size and the drop in batteries (no battery carrier) with all 4 batteries oriented the same direction. Plus it comes with a charger so the batteries can be recharged without removing from the flashlight. Cool. I will probably stick with Fenix and the TK75 but the TM15 is very appealing. Thanks.
yea well the BTU drops after 3 minutes
Got an email from Fenix Store today stating that they are receiving their first shipment of TK75’s tomorrow and will be sending out orders as soon as they get them. Also, in the email they stated that the second will be shipped to them on 12/10 and they will be filling orders around 12/17.
I was all excited until i remembered that as soon as mine gets here it gets wrapped and I have to wait till Christmas!
i should have mine in my hand tomorrow when i get in from work got the pd32 today ultimate edition very nice
i have no idea on how to do beam shots but thought i would give a brief description , firstly i love it but does not throw likea a tk70 maybe 15 perc less has massive flood with great throw but not a thrower the spill will actually make it apear less of a thrower, i have tn31 modified the fenix does not get close to it but nor would my tk70 which i sold, the build quality is up to the normal fenix standard
Do you happen to have a TN30 by chance? I was curious as to how much better the TK75 was. Thanks.
I am only new to these pricey high end lights and have been watching which ligh I would buy and the overwhelming view is that the TK75 is a good place to start from as my brother has had a TK70 for about a year now and he loves it and he is also buying the TK75 as soon as he can afford one. Maybe Santa will leave it in his XMAS stockingas long as he is nice to it! I thought this was a mainly budget like forum but I can see why these lights attract so much attention. I suppose it just takes a little longer to save up for one which means skipping a few of the smaller budget lights for a while. It would be worth wating for but. Mine was delivered last weekend and I can’t stop looking and touching it. Darkness now is my play time as long as I do not aim it at others houses. Are all of the variations of the Fenix lights above for real? Surely Fenix is only going to settle on just one of these lights. But I do like the variations as guys with TK70s would be able to run their lights with Lithium Ion batts as most devoted light owners already are using I would imagine. Thanks Fenix for bringing out this beast of a thing in such a compact package. I will have to keep a watchful eye on where I leave as someone else might like it as well without outlaying any cash to get it.
I like this forum as it gives us little guys some great info when we can usually on afford the best of the cheaper lights as I only work part time as I am still at Uni in the daytime (boring I tell you) but will be able to buy any exoensive high end lights when I finish the mountain of exams that we have to crawl over.
See you all later and I will be really looking hrad for what guys think of their new baby.
keep up the good posts for me and my bro to look at and drool over the really good stuff, my mind says high end but my Credit Card says stop now you fool.
Welcome and thanks for joining us
Welcome to BLF FarThrower, this is a budget forum. The TK75 is the best overall in value for a triple XML light. The Jetbeam, Olight and Nitecore triples being the more expensive.
The BTU is slightly cheaper, maybe brighter but in my eyes it’s a clone and not as high quality as Fenix. The driver options are cool but, make using turbo a little scairy.
I ordered a Tk75 from HIDCanada and I’m hoping it arrives soon
hows it going up there in cold ROse country
we expecting our first snow here in b e a uti full british Columbia this week
Jealous. We’ve got a good couple feet of snow and the past week has been dipping to –35c with the windchill. Nicer today, but sheesh. WHY DO I LIVE HERE!!??
Rather be in New Zealand
On topic, I have been bugging HIDcanada to get one instock for me. TK75 mayyyyy just be my next purchase. My Christmas gift to myself lol.

Not trying to knock the TK75 - it’s a sweet light. But how do you see a BTU as a clone? A clone of what?
And from first hand experience after receiving my BTU a couple days ago, to my eyes it appears to be a quality light. And it’s very bright and a serious thrower.
I personally wouldn’t mind owning both lights to be honest. And I just might one day. The TK75 should be a little more practical to carry, being slightly smaller. It also is a more attractive light. I like the nice SS bezel. I also like the side switch. Makes more sense on a bigger light like these two. The BTU however does have a bit more lumens, and should have another 50-100m throw. Though when a light is at the level of both of these lights, the minor difference in throw or lumens isn’t a big deal. The one gripe I do have about the TK75 is how far it drops when it leaves turbo. I mean 2600 to 1100? Why? Why not a more reasonable amount like 1600-2000otf. The BTU does kick off turbo much quicker at just 3 min… But after that it will at least stay on high - 2000otf - until the batteries are depleted over an hour later. Granted 1100otf of the TK75 should be adequate 99% of the time, but it’s still a shame to see a nice powerhouse of a light lose over 1/2 its said power. Also, some might see it as a negative, but I see it as a positive - the BTU has some serious heft. It is not an EDC in any way or fashion. But that extra heft adds to the quality feel and more import, should help on keeping the heat levels in check. Though hefty it is, its still nice to see its somewhat compact form factor, and the TK75 too, vs my SR90. The battery carrier could be better on the BTU though. Doesn’t hold the cells as securely as other lights like S18’s or SR51’s. But it appears to do the job ok. With all thinks considered I feel both of these lights are winners in my eyes. No more need to carry huge lights like the TK70 or SR90 when wanting some serious power. Both of these much smaller lights take on those big lights just fine.
Just my view on these two cool lights.

Son iv said it b4 and il say it again(line from “smokey and the bandit” lollz” lovvve that movie ) , the btu is a crap of a light . for gods sake it doesnt even have a coated lens.It wont out-throw the sr90 or tk70.im preety sure the tk75 will beat it in every way quality/warranty/throw/safe operation/. The battery carrier is shitty cheap .its over driven.the head is from a tk70 .noo way im paying $180 for it.its worth between 100 to 120 bucks. since its a NO NAME brand it could be incredibly inconsistent from batch to batch.one guy could get a copy that explodes in his hands.
.how much research and development was done to make the btu?? and comparing it with a fenix ,is just plain wrong.

Seriously? This is a regulated light that will spank a TK75 in lumens, and lux. My tests show 2850otf and 117kcd. And I own quality lights - Olight SR90, SR51, Maelstrom S18, and many others. I also own many budget lights and many in betweens. I’m telling you the BTU is a quality light. Is it perfect - no. I agree the battery carrier could be better. But the rest is awesome. And you state no protected lense - I don’t see any ar coating either, but it still could be there. But either way its a moot point. The light will still out throw a TK75 and likely a Tk70 too, at minimum match it. Same head and more lumens should equate to more throw. And from my own testing I feel it will do about 675m. And I tend to fully test that vs my SR90 ASAP.
And how can you truly call a light crap when you’ve never seen or held one? Any light enthusiast that actually got their hands on one would be hard pressed to TRUTHFULLY say its not a good light. Sure some might like a different tint, a side clicky, lighter weight, AR lense, etc. But few would fail to be impressed with the BTU Shocker once its in their hands.
And again I wasn’t trying to sway away from the theme of this thread and the TK75. I just felt it was logical to do some comparisons between the two. Again I like the TK75. But I’m not too much of a light snob to not appreciate a bad arse light when I see one - and I see one in the BTU Shocker. If you don’t that’s your purogative.
On a light note, that movie was one of my favorites growing up too. Loved the transam, rubber ducky, Fred, and the whole bunch.
For those interested, youtube username ‘Patriot’ has a 2-part review on the TK75. Very very thorough. Each part is around 25 minutes long! Lol. You’ve got almost an hour of in depth review and beam shots.
