Smoking emitters was caused only by people opening the head and (one way or another) not maintaining pressure on the mcpcb to the host metal, breaking the thermal path. Lot of hubbub about this but the stock unmodified lights never seemed to have this problem no matter which cell was used. A little foggy now but there was one guy who continually put the light back in turbo and just let it get super hot…seems like he smoked it a little that way as well but that was clearly misuse of hardware. Not a perfect light but the “gen 2” tweaks improved it a lot and it doesn’t seem like there have been any complaints other than aux drain and occasional QC issues with the switch that Wurkkos seems quick to remedy for the buyer.
Sometimes we hear about a lot of “problems” that are nothing more than a user being unfamilar with the firmware or the construction/electrical design(s) of the light(s)…or both.
Other than the lack of aux colors I think the FWAA was better quality and design but this little Wurkkos is a nice light. First release I wasn’t as thrilled with it but after the tweaks I liked it enough to give several as gifts and got a couple more for myself. It’s sold so well at this point that I doubt they’ll be motivated to improve it further but it has room to do so and really make it awesome, imho.
I like the FWAA better than the TS10. More expensive of course. Lack of aux lights I think is a positive. But, at the TS10’s price point makes it a no brainer.
Why? When off it should be no difference.
A big bonus are the flash pads and they are not mentioned in the video.
The newest revision of Andúril 2 got a battery warning for single color AUX LEDs. That can be handy on the TS10.
Yeah, once you consider the price, the TS10 really has no competition. I don’t have an FWAA, but considering I can get 2 to 3 TS10s for the price I would pay for an FWAA setup the way I want it…
I think I will pass on the FWAA. Though before the TS10 came out, I was really tempted.
Wish I had a dollar for every sentence that has been written or verbalized in reviews or comments about this light. There’s no other 14500 light in my collection that I revere more, and I have my fair share (including FWAA, FW1AA). I’m at six TS10’s now in various iterations, and if the line-up expands certain to grab any new offerings. The CSP emitters in this light (esp. 4000K) are just stellar, and beat out anything else I have in terms of tint purity and color rendering. Pretty hard to top for a sub $20 light.
Ya this has been one of my more dependable lights so far.
Real easy to see how important that connection to the heatsink is, I buy that explanation. The head by itself weighs like nothing. And it heats up fast on turbo.
Nice flashlight, thanks for the review man !
