This looks awesome. Interesting to use the flood LEDs as mule instead of using optics.
Nice build especially with this ‘burnt bronze’ color.
Great project and the beams look nice. How did you get the glass with the pebbling round the edges and clear in the middle… or did you do something with the reflectors to get the effect?
Anyway, quite a good job. Do you have an estimate on what it cost to get it all done> Just curious.
Thanks! Yeah. I had thought about using optics when I had the original design. But was questioning if it was going to be possible. However, when I changed the design to using individual mcpcb’s, that idea went out the window and I decided to just go with some DC fix.
The pebbling is actually DC fix. I had ordered milky. This is what I got. I’m probably going to add a second layer. The center is just cut out to match the Carclo optics on the throwers
I don’t actually know how much I have into this. But with the mess ups and things I had to change, it’s easily several hundred dollars
This is a really fun project and the best idea for 2024👍🏼
Maglite need to meet Hank and Loneoceans or m4potofu and give them the opportunity to collaborate with their products.
Thank you! I appreciate that.
I don’t disagree that Maglite needs to step up their game. I’ve considered sending them pictures (or just a link to this thread) to show them the possibilities of their own lights.
Very very cool project…
you absolutely should reach out, this is such a great idea
no one in this forum is a friend of Maglite director?
Would be cool if someone was
I have not kept up on Maglites since I discovered there were better lights. When I google “maglite firector” the results are mainly links to people who are ceo’s and such. Their webpage, Link. has no director light. ???
That’s a great modified Maglite you made worrub918!
Good alternative with eventually using the 10mm MCPCBs.
And I like how you added a lighted switch.
Thanks! Yeah, once I saw those and saw they’d fit, it was a no brains to switch gears.
I almost didn’t put the lighted switch in. It was only when I figured out the Convoy switch would fit that I changed gears. I do wish I could find one that’s a lower profile. But this one works great. So I’m not complaining
Have you considered putting a washer on the tailcap so it doesn’t stick out as much? I’ve done that to allow tail standing with some of my flashlights.
Something like this:
I had not thought of that. I have the extra space there and can give it a shot. Although, I’m not opening it back up for a while.
Thanks for the idea. I like it
Many company can do a substantial upgrade with latest Anduril and super efficient driver but I don’t know why this way use a long amount of time for official results. Now Hank use LumeX1 and is a gorgeous news but how many time we wait for this super upgrade? Probably years…but yes, the covid take more time in the all process
Wow, that really is a cool build.
Thank you very much
@worrub918 modern classics
Cheers
That’s s great way to describe it. Thanks
