Fire-Foxes FF4 HID Flashlight Review (As usual, picture heavy)

That would be annoying if you wanted the warmer tint. I believe the cooler tint bulb is from a different manufacturer and might meter out slightly higher. There was a lot of debate over bulbs when the FF4 first came out.

I didnt realise it was left in standby, on mine the standby glow is only visable if in the dark, second time I lent the FF4 To a mate and he did the same even after I warned him :frowning:

That’s a b’*r :frowning: That standby light should be brighter :frowning: Hopefully a new carrier will solve your switch problems.

Is he is just sending that to you rather than you having to send the whole light back to him?

Yes Im just sending him the carrier , Bill wanted me to solder it at first, but I reply no way .

its been a while since i have posted anything but it looks like firefoxes updated their flashlight a little. I got one of the more early batches of the FF4 and the logo is printed much smaller than the one reviewed here

Found it interesting that this light has a recommendation “do not use batteries below 3.5v” .

So pretty much that’s a fair bit of mah wasted ?

That's probably due to having to use unprotected batteries. As voltage drops the batteries are stressed more... most likely you would still be able to use batteries at below 3.5v, especially on the lowest mode.

A shame I bought an ebay HID before knowing this light…
Ebay HID is great but the sheer size is the reason I don’t use it a lot.

I have one of those ebay ones. Gave it away. But still extremely impressive for the cost.

Putting the FF4 on the want list!

Uhm, shameless plug... want to sell one for $220. Plus shipping if it's outside the US.

Hi,

Suddenly my ff4 will not turn on. Where can I send it for a repair?

Best,

Hi,

I purchased an FF4 last Christmas for my brother.
Since then the light stopped turning on, and the supplier does not respond.
Who repairs these lights?

Best,
William

Hi All, both my ff3 and ff4 will not turn on. Batteries are fine and on the battery case the green light lights up. I so miss my lights! Please help if you have any leads on repair or someone I could send it to to hire to fix them. Thank you so very much.

Are the bulbs blown?

Pull the battery holder out of the light. If you look at the circuit board that contacts the head of the light you will see that it is recessed into the battery carrier slightly.
Unscrew the battery tube from the head. Look at the three metal half rounded tabs. It may seem that they extend out enough but here is where looks can be deceiving. Gently pull the half round shaped tabs away from the head of the light so they extend out further with a small screw driver or other small tool. A small L shaped allan key works well. Work slowly.
Screw the battery tube back on and slide in the battery carrier. Gently push the carrier towards the head once it is seated. You want to feel the mild resistance of the three half rounded contacts being compressed slighty before the battery carrier bottoms out against the head end of the tube.

Does anybody know where I can get a Fire-Foxes FF4 HID ?

I have I might sell, been shelf queen since ive gotten her few years back.

Send PM if interested.

How do you tell if the bulb is bad on the ff3 and ff4? I have never opened the top of the light before. I miss these lights soooo much!! Thanks!!!
