Fireflylite X1S v X4 v E04 Best EDC light + emitter pair?

I’m currently looking at FFL and didn’t realize they made other lights, specifically the X4. I’m looking for an 1x21700 EDC and looking for something that is a throwy flood light.

I was originally looking at the E04 since it seems to be very throwy given the quad LED but curious how that compares to the X4 or X1S in terms of throw but also battery performance? I heard the drives on the X ones are just better for performance and longevity? I’m looking for high CRI, neutral tint and 4000-5000K temperature for the emitter. I assume the emitter combos below do that?

That would the:

  • E04 SFT40-5000K or a mix of FFL505A 6000-6500K + 3500-4000K (How bad is the tint here)?
  • X4 FFL351A 5000K
  • X1S FFL707A 5000K ort FFL5009R 5000K (not sure how the reflector and non-reflector differ) and if there’s a better more neutral tint between either?

All three use the same driver: lume X1.

FFL5009R 5000K will be throwier and more neutral than 707A, with a slightly positive duv. Reflector X1S has slightly more throw than TIR but I don’t know if it’s enough to be noticeable. Firefly have added CRI, duv, lux, and lumen for various emitters in a spreadsheet on the X4 and X1S pages so definitely look through those. Looks like they haven’t done the same for E04 yet, but my FFL505A E04 has more throw than my 5009R X1S TIR.

I can’t comment on that particular cct mix, but cct mixing in general makes the tint rosier and the 3500-400K 505A is already pretty rosy to begin with.

Al of these are pretty chonky for EDC. Unless you really want the usb-c charging I’d look at either X1Q or X4Q depending on how much throw you want.

The E04 uses the Lume1, not the LumeX1.

Good catch. I always thought it was lume X1 like the more recent D4SV2.
