I received the batteries as a free review sample from XTAR. These little 1.5V LiIon batteries work perfectly in my Olight i3e.
I did a temperature test using an IR thermometer by running the light on 1.5V LiIon for 2 minutes. The light barely got warm. Temperature started at 25C and ended at 29C.
After resting the light so it returned to 25C room temperature, I did the same 2 minute test with the Alkaline that came with the light, and the temperature result was 27C. The difference was just 2C warmer for the 1.5V LiIon, it was not noticeable by hand.
Compared output, and they were essentially the same.. the AAA XTAR 1.5V LiIon with USB-C was actually 5 lumens brighter on my meter.
I compared the size of the 1.5V LiIon to the Alkaline battery that came in the Olight i3e. I also compared to an AAA Eneloop. They all fit equally well in the light. The 1.5V LiIon are lighter.
Measured with Calipers the 1.5V LiIon are 44.3mm x 10.0mm, and weigh 7.3g
The Alkaline are 44.2mm x 10.2mm and weight 11.0g, 53% heavier than 1.5V LiIon.
AAA Eneloop White are 44.2mm x 10.1mm and weight 11.8g, 64% heavier than 1.5V LiIon, and require a special charger.
I did not have AAA Energizer Ultimate Lithium to compare myself, google says they are 44.5mm x 10.5mm x 7.6g, which is 6% heavier than 1.5V LiIon w USB-C
The 1.5V LiIon are a direct replacement for the Alkaline.. no significant operating temperature difference, no significant output difference, no significant size difference. The 1.5V LiIon are 53% lighter than Alkaline, and 64% lighter than White Eneloop.
I really like these 1.5V LiIon USB-C batteries. They make my little Olight a Total Package. The 1.5V LiIon is easily recharged, no need to worry about Alkaline leaks, and no need to bother shopping for spare batteries when charge gets low. No need for a special charger that Eneloop require.
The 1.5V LiIon w USB-C make the little Olight an even more convenient gift, as I know the receiver will be able to keep the battery charged. I have no hesitation recommending these XTAR AAA 1.5V LiIon with USB-C.
