Was outside last night about 9pm spotting rabbits for my beagle with my Ultrafire TH T60.
A neighbor was walking up the street with his two dogs and said. "wow, that is a bright flashlight! What is it"
I showed it to him, he had never seen "small" flashlights before, I think he was expecting a Maglite. He was truly surprised at the light output compared to the form factor of the light, and was very complimentary about the light.
And in case any bunny-lovers are concerned, the beagle has never caught a rabbit yet, after 10 years of trying. Now if she could just learn to follow the light, she might have a chance.
I think that's what is most impressive about modern lights is that you can get so much light out of something you can fit in your pocket. The iTP A3 is like that. People laugh when they see such a tiny flashlight, but they are amazed once it is on High.
My plumber borrowed my Solarforce L2 with a XM-L in it to go look in my crawlspace. Once he came back he handed me the light and said "That's a nice light," which in understated plumber talk means "Holy Crap! What a flashlight!"
Anyone who sees any of my flashlights is amazed. Even I'm impressed when my TK-703 with a single AAA-sized battery will outshine any stock MagLite (LED or incan) flashlight I have ever seen... Even my Ultrafire WF-501b with an XR-E R2 emitter is brighter than any other flashlight anyone else in the family owns.
Funny, I was in my crawl space today with my plumber. Couldn't locate the leak, but he was impressed by the light (Sky Ray S-A1). When all was said and done, he didn't charge me, so I gave him the light (I have another).
Every time I bring a new light to work my boss is like, "damn, this one's even brighter than the last one!" or "how much did you say that was?" I talked him out of a TK45 a few months ago and he hasn't made his choice yet.
I have ordered lights for a half dozen friends after they have seen what these lights are capable of. Also, on a late night walk at the cottage, I turned the light on and my friend's girlfriend was like 'WHAT IS THAT? ITS BRIGHTER THAN MY CARS HEADLIGHTS!'....it was the KD c8 xm-l. Yup, the xm-l seems to impress!
I went out on a mtb ride through the woods behind my yard with 6 KD C8 XMLs , came out the other side and the police officer was hiding behind his door and though I was an alien spaceship or something. I get the usual Holy sh*t look on the roads.
The light from my flashlight. When she gets close to a rabbit (lots in my area) she follows her nose instead of looking at the rabbit frozen in the beam.
I will have 6 c8 xml's soon plus two 3xml lights. Would like to see them hooked up to car. Not that I think you need 6. I have driven at night with my skyray 3xml hanging out my car window and it is better than my head lights.

Same here. I've 6 more Sipik clones on the way. It surprises me how many people still don't know about LED torches. Come to that, I was one of them til recently..
6 xmls sounds like a lot till you realize ....the law of inverse square is come in to play ..as you click on one light after another you are hit with the depressing thought ...dang i thought this was gonna be brighter than this ... It takes 4 more xmls to appear twice as bright as one ....i realized this a long time ago when i rubberbanded 7 tank 566's together in a big ring of 6 lights around one ...it had some real heft and felt like one serious 7 emitter light .... but the 1200 lumens wasn't earthshattering especially at 180 lumens at a time ....maybe if i turned on all 7 at the same time ..hmm
My EDC is a Ebay Sipik68 clone with 14500. Every time I use it at night people are always amazed at it. Almost every guy says "What did it cost?" I have ordered a few for friends. I have been toying with the idea of trying to sell light batts and charger as a set to fund my new addiction. If I had them in hand I think I could sell them on the spot. Do any of you guys do this? How is it working out? Is it worth the effort?
That's why lumen junkies need HIDs. For me - i am also sort of immune to regular auto HIDs. Still want that advertising searchlight though....if i manage to move into a house.
I got a few Dr’s at the hospital i work at to say “WOW,where did you get that ?”when they saw me turn on 4sevens Preon 2 , they were really impressed on how bright it was for such a small light.
Where your Beagle has failed my wife's basset hound dominates.
At lest once or twice a week when i get home from work she is out in the yard waiting for my headlights to shine across the field. Then breakfast is served.
