Fixtures for light installation.

Hi there,
I’m planning an outdoor light installation. Looking for help on specifying the fixtures.
I’ll probably end up needing 60-100 fixtures in total, so budget is an issue.

Basically, I’m after something similar to ‘thrower’ flashlights, so a very tight bullet spot with a small beam diameter. But there’s some additonal things needed.

No battery needed: I’ll be driving these from PSU’s connected to mains power.
Heatsink needed: The units will be on for prolonged periods (5 hrs or more per night), so need to keep cool.
IP rating: These will be used outside, so need to be water-resistant.
Dimmable: Ideally, I’d be able to dim the fixtures from 0-100%

I’m really looking for the light engine and the optics. I can get casings made, but if there’s an existing unit that works, this would be amazing.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Many thanks

This style of light used to be super cheap and, when combined with a high-intensity round emitter, makes an amazing spot.

Nowadays, there are unfortunately at least 3–4 cost-optimized versions available, and it’s quite hard to find the one with the proper, high-quality heat sink and aluminum back. There are versions with much smaller aluminum backs, thinner ones, and even plastic ones.

Sadly, with most sellers you can’t tell from the pictures or the description, since they don’t use actual photos and just send whatever they have on hand that day.

Thanks for joining the gang, marcusl!
