I am looking for a powerful flashlight that uses multiple LED chips and rechargeable batteries (with the option to add extra batteries for extended capacity). It should be able to operate for 20–24 hours and be mountable on a motorcycle for long trips in mountainous and forest areas.
The purpose is to use it both as a handheld flashlight and as a mounted auxiliary light to support the motorcycle’s lighting system.
Probably a bike light that runs on 12 volts, but thoee are few and far between. You’d want something thst works with a 12 volt electrical system, so 3S battery configuration. That mwans wither a buck-driven setup or a series or a series/parallel LED configuration. They are out there, but as far as handheld versiona, not sure.
1000lm of flood or a focused spot cuz 1000l flood is not much.

1000lm today consumes about 8-10watts, an average 18650 rechargeable cell is 10 watts/ hour, 21700 is about 17w/h. 1000lm for 8 hours you’d need 5 to 8 cells. There are very few lights that have more than 4. that is as far as power goes, another aspect is heat, most lights have heat control, when leds get too hot, it dims the light to produce less heat. A small light that makes 1000-2000 lm will not run on that level for long, you want a large light that makes 20 000 lm, and run it on 1000lm so it the heat it makes will be dissipated as fast or faster as it is made. Good quality lights like that go for 300 and up. they are usually have formfactor of a soda can, and have 3-4 rechargeable cells, and have multiple leds, and almost always floody. but even then 8 hours at 1000lm is pretty rare
Extending this - maybe look for something running a 46950 cell? A quick look on 1lumen showed the following models (there are many more, but some have terrible drivers and die quicker), some reach well over 12h at ~1000lm:
Plus they all have usb ports so You can charge them while riding (though I’m not sure You can charge and use them simultaneously)
The 3x21C doesn’t work with the 46950 tube out of the box. Not even sure it can work overall, didn’t find direct instructions how to make it work (but didn’t look too hard)
