This thread is for fun and also for reference. The goal is to recap all the famous and even infamous flashlights that have basically become cult classics. Please just list one so it's simple to read and also more members can get in on it. Let's try to adhere to just these two guidelines:
1) List just ONE flashlight - make and model (and category if possible - i.e. Thrower)
2) Give a brief, one or two sentence description why it rose to cult classic status (well, we should just try to keep it brief).
The List:
1. Trustfire X9 [Thrower]
2. Surefire 6P [Beginning of the P60]
3. Nitecore D10 [EDC]
4. Sipik SK68 [Flood to throw]
5. Maglite [CLASSIC!]
6. Romisen RC-29 [Flood to throw]
7. Fauxton [Keychain]
8. UniqueFire AA-S1
9. iTP A1/A2/A3
10. DQG Tiny II
11. UltraFire H3 [Headlamp]
12. Zebralight H51f
13. Fenix TK35 [All-around]
14. AKOray K-106 [EDC - programmable]
15. Solarforce L2 [P60 - The High Quality 6P clone]
Even when most people may not own this light, it quickly became a measuring stick for just about every budget thrower. It looks good, performs well and does all this at a great price.
Romisen RC-29. Flood-to-throw, three mode, single AA/14500. Bright, versatile, seriously impressive build quality for the money. Worthy alternative to Sipik 68.
Helps you find your door at night, stays with you as long as you don't lose your keys, and is cheap enough to buy a 10-pack and give all of them away. Like little seeds, and when one falls on fertile ground, a flashaholic is born.
The tiny size, light weight, nice beam, scratch resistant SS body, ease of operation as an EDC and high quality machining makes it the best keychain twisty, until something better comes out. (new 4Sevens, DQG tiny III)
A clone of the legendary Zebralight H60. This clone brought the long burn, all flood, 18650 form factor headlamp to the masses. Its two years old and still discussed today.
Zebralight H51f
Small, bright, low, low all on one AA battery. It has a pleasant diffused beam and is easy to carry even if you always leave the headband attached (which I do). Great user interface.
Enough twrower, enough flooder, enough runtime, small enough, enough battery options... It will not cover any extreme but in real use, it will be very hard for someone to need something that TK35 can't do.
