Flashlight purchase from Aliexpress in the US$ 20 ~ 25 range

Hey guys

I’m from Brazil, if I’m posting in the wrong place, I kindly ask you to move the topic to the correct place.

Well, I want to import a flashlight from Aliexpress in the US$ 20 ~ 25 price range.
I will use it occasionally for camping.
No need for a tactical flashlight.

I researched some models that I will put below.
Being that I got a discount coupon of US$ 5 for the first three (WK15, SC31T and SP35)

Wurkkos WK15 - US$ 26.39 (US$ 21.39 with discount)
Sofirn SC31T - US$ 25.38 (US$ 20.38 with discount)
Sofirn SP35 - US$ 30.56 (US$ 25.56 with discount)
Sofirn SC31 Pro - US$ 19.98

I saw a review of each one of them and I liked the Wurkkos WK15 better because it has more lumens in “High” and “Turbo” mode, according to the table for each of them below.

Wurkkos WK15
Technical Parameter

Sofirn SP35
Technical Parameter

I did not find the Sofirn SC31 Pro table, I believe it is close to the SC31T

I liked the fact that the WK15 has 550 lumens (94m) on Medium, 1500 lumens (144m) on High and 3000 lumens (218m) on Turbo; the SP35 has 400 lumens (120m) on Medium, 950 lumens (215m) on High and 2000 lumens (332m) on Turbo and the SC31T has 300 lumens (85m) on Medium, 800 lumens (133m) on High and 2000 Lumens (209m) on Turbo.

What worried me about the WK15 is the battery life which is very low compared to the SP35 and the SC31T
WK15 has 4.5h on Medium, 1.8h on High and 1.6h on Turbo; the SP35 has 5h 35min on Medium, 3h 40min on High and 1h 53min on Turbo; the SC31T has 7.5h on Medium, 3.5h on High and 2.5h on Turbo.

What I found intriguing is that the WK15 has more lumens in all three modes mentioned (Medium, High and Turbo), but the SP35 has greater range in meters in all of them, even with less lumens.

So I wanted your opinion on which of these 4 options would be the best option?

I’m between the WK15 and the SP35, I confess that the WK15 caught my attention for the amount of lumens, but I’m seeing if it’s better to reduce lumens a little and have more battery life.

Another thing I would like to know is that WK15 and SP35 use 21700 battery.
Is it possible to also use the 18650 in them, using an adapter like the one below?

As it will be my first best quality flashlight, so I ask about whether it is possible to use the 18650 which I find easier than the 21700.

Have a pleasant time at this friendly forum, Nimzowitsch!
This thread should be moved to “LED Flashlights – General Info”

Welcome on BLF Capitao De Areia !

I don’t really know about this flashlights, but i think it’s better a 21700 that also can use 18650 with an adapter and with the best possible quality !
Also some brands they don’t lay down the actual - real numbers or the reviewers are somewhat wrong… !?
Just my opinion… have a good one !

2 Thanks

Of your four choices, I would pick the Wurkkos WK15.
It has the brightest emitter, and it uses a 21700 cell, which is my favorite size of cell.
A 21700 is slightly larger than an 18650, but a good 21700 has either more capacity or can handle more amps than a good 18650 (depending on whether you want more capacity or more amps.)

@raccoon

Thanks man, im out of likes, i will back up later… !

I was also about to buy the Wurkkos WK15, but in the table I posted, I was worried about the battery life.
Sofirn SP35 seems to have better battery life, at least in the test
These tables were hard to find on Google, but I didn’t find the tests themselves, I didn’t find the “(ANSI/NEMA FL1)” tests
I saw the tables looking for the manuals for each flashlight, searching on Google
In my post I had put links with youtube reviews, but it was blocked stating that because I’m new to the forum, I can’t post more than two links.
About the preference for the 18650 battery, here in Brazil it is easier to find the 18650 than the 21700.
I’m going to buy the flashlight already with the 21700 from the seller, but I was thinking of leaving at least one or two more in reserve, and the 18650 can be taken from old notebook batteries that used 18650.

Probably you can buy the flashlight that you really like and some spare batteries, and then you can also have the option for the 18650 with the adapter… !?

You can post the title and the channel and i will post them for you … !?

Probably i would bay the Wurkkos WK15… !?

If it’s for camping, have you considered a headlamp?

Thank you very much, TARTARA

I had already seen the youtube review of the channel "
Weerapat Kiatdumrong" from Wurkkos WK15 and Sofirn SP35 flashlights, I couldn’t post as I explained in the first post, but thanks for posting the review.
Too bad I didn’t find a head-to-head between the WK15 and the SP35 anywhere

I really liked the answer from meeshu that you brought to this topic, I confess that I don’t understand much about the world of flashlights, but this answer made me decide for Wurkkos WK15, despite not understanding this question of angle.

My real concern with the WK15 is with the issue of battery life according to the tests of “(ANSI/NEMA FL1)” in which this table is on the Wurkkos website itself, and should be included in the manuals of both the Wurkkos WK15 and from Sofirn SP35

Nothing at all man, im simply trying to help !
I think it’s better to try to find the possible best flashlight that you can afford and it will fit in your needs… or in the future… ! Again it’s just my personal opinion… !

If you are talking about the angle of the beam shots… !? Here it’s a simple example of two quite different ones… !
The small flashlight has a shallower reflector, so the angle of the beam it’s much wider… ! It’s better for closer distances… !

But the bigger flashlight has deeper reflector, so the angle of the beam shot is much narrower… ! It’s better for mid range distances… !

Then, there are much deeper and bigger reflectors with more powerful setups for much longer distances… !

Something in between these lines… just for general guidances… !

1 Thank

@TARTARA
Yes, my use will be for small and medium distances
I’m about to buy the WK15 which seems to be more powerful (more lumens) than the SP35.
The only point that I was really worried about and reported here was the issue of battery life/autonomy, based on the tests in the aforementioned “(ANSI/NEMA FL1)” tables, which I found on Google and I believe are included in the manuals of both flashlights, the SP35 it has a much greater autonomy than the WK15, this in Medium modes (most used) and in High and Turbo modes when it is necessary to use these modes.
If the difference wasn’t as big as it appears in these tests, I would have already decided on the WK15.

@gravelmonkey
So I forgot to mention it when I made the first post on the topic, in addition to camping (very sporadic), I also intend to use it for trails, in which case I will need a flashlight.
But the headlamp can be an additional accessory as well if you are referring to one of those.

I apologize to colleagues, but I am using Google Translate to write and read in the forum, it may be that I do not perfectly understand everything that is being written in the translation.

And finally I’m going to be able to buy a really good flashlight to replace a generic xing-ling XML-T6 that is even doing its job, but it’s pretty weak, the WK15 and the SP35 are much better than it.

Excellent man !

Now …
Sorry man. but i think it’s better to make your own decision on which flashlight fits you better… and in what type of use - conditions… !

Probably i would stick with the better quality between the two of them… like i did in my case with my bigger flashlight, and at the end i was pretty pleased with my purchase… for everyday use around the house… plus has enough power and throuw if i need it… ! And latter on because i really like it i bought my smaller one from the same brand, for much better - easier everyday use… and to not use to bigger one all the time… ! Something in between these lines were my criteria… !

1 Thank

Yes, by power (lumens) it will be WK15
I hope her autonomy is good.

A better alternative for the WK15 would be the SP35T instead of the SP35 variant. They use the same emitter as WK15 and the SP35T is brighter, but is more expensive ~35usd. Sofirn has a 20% discount running if you order from their website. It has better runtimes (claimed) than WK15 and SP35

2 Thanks

I meant a flashlight you wear on your head. Like Sofirn HS20 or SP40 or Wurkkos HD15 or HD20.

Cooking or building a tent with one hand, while you hold the flashlight in your other hand is not fun.

3 Thanks

@Lumaine Moore

Yes, I had seen the SP35T too, but as you said it is more expensive, in the range of US$ 35 ~ 40
Even with 20% discount on the Sofirn website, it was USD 33 including battery 21700
Cool that it has more lumens and greater range than the WK15 and has the same battery life as its younger sister SP35, that is, the SP35T is the best of both worlds.
But I’m not going to spend more money on it, I think I’ll end up choosing the SP35 for the battery life, I’m not feeling confident about the WK15’s autonomy despite having more lumens.
Battery life is also important and the SP35 will be in the USD 20 range that I want.
Perhaps in the USA the difference between USD 20 and USD 35 is not so much, but here in Brazil the difference between BRL 105 and BRL 185 is considerable.

@ gravelmonkey

Thank you for the suggestion, but I’m going to buy a common hand flashlight anyway.
Who knows later on, if I feel the need, I’ll buy a headlamp.
At the moment I was more interested in buying the ledlenser, which I put the link, if I want to have one more accessory for camping.

1 Thank

Im not from the US either and I clearly understand the difference in spending 10usd more. I was just giving a suggestion. Anyway the SP35 is a nice flashlight which Im sure you will enjoy very much !
