FmC's 2nd Annual Handmade Light Build; "The Hand Mortar" -It's done!!!- Updated daylight pics.

Haven't been here in a while. Man, really digging your fabrication work and creativity. Can't wait to see this baby all together.

On the home run now, but can’t actually put it together… it’s like watching paint dry - hold on - I AM watching paint dry…. :expressionless:

…In the mean-time, I’m charging up a couple of LG cells for a final bench-test. Hopefully they’ll push a few more amps

- edit - That’s a little better - just over 6.5A through the test leads on fresh LG’s.

Funny. My wifes painting as well. You can come around and watch the paint dry with me. No, better not or she will try and rope me in again to help. I've used a blow torch to dry paint. Just a suggestion.

Does she happen to have a decent brush, & a tin of Golden Oak varnish that isn’t 15 years old with bits floating in it?

btw - the blow torch didn’t work, & I now have more sanding to do :~

Bump for today’s progress…. (end of post#5)

It appears you are very very close. l love the sight sitting up there.

I love all the different parts and pieces people come up with to make these off the wall builds. Can’t wait to see it assembled and pumping out light grenades.

Bump for the latest updates at the end of post #5.

An old pair of nylons can be used to filter the bits out of paint or varnish. Or you can buy filters at the paint store.

Your going to build a few lights until you get to 9999. What did you use to do the lettering. I'm not familiar with the plier type item you have there?

The lettering was done with a rotary engraver, which loved to bite into the copper & go for a walk….
The tool is just a metal hole punch. It has a small center-punch bit in the middle that comes down first & holds the job, then the main punch shaft comes down over it to punch out the hole.

Pictures to come tomorrow - it’s 1:30am now & I have to get up at 5:30 for work……

…sorry about the crappy resolution.

Its a runner. Yay. It looks like quiet a thrower with the long range sights fitted. How much drop do you get over 300 yards?

Pics are up, end of post #5.

Beam-shots tonight

Looks awesome!

You have a Mortar for long range.

I have a German WWII grenade for short range in bunkers and such. :)

We could invite Rufusbduck with his ray gun too. Oh, and Dale with his bullet.

We would make a great team! :D Picture it. Several grown ups using prehistoric of futuristic weapons and such to illuminate everything. Would be epic. :D

By passers would probably think we had lost it completely! (And they may be right thinking so.)

You have already.

:D

amazing….

for night wild spotting one super thrower with rifle kolf and a good rifle scope!

Lol, bring on the men in white jackets…

As promised, beam shot comparison with a few other lights at the end of post #5.

Excellent work. Well done. It is no wonder your co workers loved it :-) We do too! :-)
