FNIRSI HRM-10 Voltage Internal Resistance Battery Tester

Has anyone used this tester? I want to do some more technical testing with my flashlights and batteries. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money at first.

FNIRSI Battery Tester Amazon.com

I have one. I think it is a pretty good meter. I have not been able to calibrate it, But it agrees withing one decimal place with the two meters that I have calibrated. The Amazon package looks good. The battery holder is a must have. The split on the probes makes it hard to use on larger batteries without it. I bought mine without it, then just recently bought one standalone for something like $15 shipped. I would have been better off buying it with the package. I think it is a good deal for a decent meter. You can probably get it cheaper on AliExpress. But then there is the wait.

BTW, I have 4 other meters from FNIRSI and they are all good gear.

I was originally going to buy just the meter and get the holder separately but the shipping changed from 3 days to 2 weeks. It will make a good starting point for me. I have a lot of batteries and I want to make sure that they are good.

Do you know if you can use it with a charger?

Not sure what you mean?

Can I use the probes on a battery that’s charging? Or would that burn out the meter?

I wouldn’t think so, especially if it is to just measure just voltages. But I haven’t tried it.

I will have to do some research.

I was trying to search for other leads but I don’t know what to type in. Do I search for hrm-10 leads or something else?

They have a different plug on the HRM 10 then my other three meters. AND the pinout varies between those. SO you need something specific for this meter. Not sure of what to put into a search engine…but make sure whatever you get specifies that it is compatible.
Though the leads that come with it are just fine.

I was just looking to see if there were other options for leads. Just curious.

check this thread:

There is a discussion of leads further down. Post 5 and later. If you don’t mind changing the plug, there should be quite a few options available.

I was checking my Amazon account this morning and some how I ordered the meter without the black battery box. Now I will have to order it separately. That really sucks.

Do you think I could use this until I get the one that goes with it?

Why not just cancel/return and order the right package?

I imagine that holder you linked could work, but it is only for 18650 cells.

BTW if you can’t return the package that you ordered, you can effectively use the meter without the cell holder. Just order the correct standalone cell holder and be patient.

You might be able to cancel it still. Go check right away.

If not, as I understand it, Amazon still allows returns of unopened products without anything wrong. If not a Prime member, I think you may have to pay return shipping or drop it off at an Amazon affiliate or locker.

I tried to cancel it but it was to late. I just went ahead and ordered the holder but it won’t be here until the first week of January. And like you said, I can still use the meter until the holder comes in.

It was to late to cancel it but I ordered the battery box and I can use the meter without the box.

I have had the meter for several months. I just ordered the cell holder a few days ago. It has been fine without it. I want to check a bunch of cells in the near future, so I ordered the holder. That should make it faster. But it has been fine using it without it.

The only downside is that the leads are really to short from the “Y” connection to make testing 21700 cells easy. It is still doable, but awkward. Using something to hold the cell like a small vice does make it a bit easier.

I’m glad that I can still use it without the cell holder but I have the one that I posted but it only holds 18650 cells.

In which way do you want to do some testing of your flashlights? The HRM-10 isn’t usefull for that.

Recently Zoyi has brought out the ZT-XR1 (4-wire) battery tester/multi meter, which might be a more allround/usefull option for you, although it’s a bit more expensive though. The other downside is that there currently are only the ‘clamp’ battery test probes, which basicly suck if you use them with cylindrical batteries, also because the 2 tips of the camps can’t make contact while measuring ACIR.

There might be battery probes or a battery holders from other brands that might work with it, but I don’t know if Zoyi use a standard connector and which size.

By the way; I haven’t looked at reviews/tests for the ZT-XR1 yet, so I don’t know how accurate it is, but from what I’ve read, Zoyi seems to produce decent meters in general, so this one might be good too.

I also have an HRM-10 and I fully agree with @Mandrake50’s findings above.

When I bought it, I went for the ‘full package’, which included the battery holder and the probes, because (as stated above) later ordering the battery holder (or even the probes) was pretty expansive in comparisson.

As mentioned: the split on the test probes isn’t that great, making (unprotected) 21700 basicly the longest size you can test with them.

I have several other Fnirsi meters too, and the battery spot welder, and so far I’m really happy with all of them and agree that the quality appears to be good.
