The Emisar is already a FET based high performance driver, so no need to boost it.
Bout the sliced SST-40 vs. XHP35 HI, I really dunno but suspect might be close. XHP35 HI, though requires a boost driver or 4 cells in series because it’s 12V. Someone here on BLF may have better knowledge on that, like ZozzV6. Have to compare a hard driven sliced SST-40 to a max driven XHP35 HI which is ~2.5 amps or so.
According to koef3 SST-40 N4 has 5% higher intensity than XHP35 HI E2 while delivering 3/4 lumens.
Note that koef3 dedoming was not perfect.
I tried doing a combination of shave and hot gas dedome on an SST-40 this evening. I was stupidly in a bit of a rush and ripped off one of the wires (the one by itself). Just for S&G I hit it with the continuity test and the die lit up. Which leaves me with two questions…
will this LED function properly?
I figure two wires are for + and -, but what is the third wire for? It seems like a lot of LEDs have three, I just never thought too much about it
