FS: Olight SR-90 (now FREE) (project light / host)

Up for sale is a used Olight SR-90. Comes with the case, charger, strap, an extra battery pack, and a frosted diffuser lens. The extra battery pack and diffuser lens were purchased separately by me, new, for about $120 total.

I modified the case by cutting the foam so that the light could fit in the case fully assembled. Everything fits in the case.

This is a work light, not a shelf queen. There are some dings on the fins but nothing too bad. Small ding on one of the tailcaps, pictured below. The bezel is undamaged except for a tiny nick. Cosmetically the light looks pretty good overall.

The battery packs have maybe 20 cycles each. One of the little rubber nibs on one of the battery packs has a small chunk missing. This is common, and replacements can be obtained from Olight.

Oh, the LED isolation gasket is missing. I lost it years ago when I casually disassembled the head to look at the reflector. I’m sure Olight can accomodate.

The light does not seem as bright to me as when it was brand new, and the tint seems to have shifted more towards neutral than cool white. Upgrading it to a new bin SST-90 emitter would probably double the output. Those chips have come a long way since 2011.

Asking $250 $240 $220 $200 shipped CONUS. I will be making a replacement centering ring for it as well.

Another price drop.

Fast forward a decade, give or take a year:

This light is now a project light / host. The battery packs stopped working and have been disassembled.

You can have this light for free + shipping. Usa only. (The 18650 cells are no good and are not included.) All original parts, the case, shoulder strap, diffuser, etc., are included.

As a project: the LED should be replaced with something newer. The battery pack(s) should be rebuilt with either the original 2s3p arrangement, or as 1s6p, or whatever else you want to do within the space available. If you have KiCad skills it would be pretty easy to make some new contact PCBs. The stock 2 mode linear driver could be used but a newer driver from Convoy etc. would be a better way to go. Worth noting, the battery pack thread protector caps can be used as tailcaps instead of the stock tailcaps.

Hmmm…stick a bunch of triples and quads in there, with a massive sinkpad for maximum photons.
