Yep, to me the dark clip looked lots better; but such is life. So much discussion & many complaints about the dark one before it was even realeased… they probably just said ‘screw it’ and changed to silver on the next clip order.
In many cases a manufacturer would do well to pay very little attention to much of the chatter about the non-technical things in a thread. Most of it is just personal preference anyway….
…….ask ten (10) people and there may well be eleven (11) answers.
Not a good formula for changing things…… there will always be those not happy.
Got something that works & looks good…… leave it alone.
I feel the same way. Clip color, different shades of ano, bunny buttons (what happened to that, by the way?), it doesn’t really matter to me. As you said though, some have different preferences, and it might make a difference to them.
How long would you have to use the scotchbrite?
I was hoping to put it on my friend’s lathe and use a 600+grit sandpaper. Maybe there’s a better option?
I think most people that used scotchbrite also used drain cleaner/lye/whatever to strip a good portion of the ano ahead of time so it’s probably not as much as you think.
If you start with sandpaper and fresh ano you might end up taking off more material than necessary and you will still have ano in the grips.
Scotch brite / sandpaper will make a brushed finish which is different to the machining marks that Fritz wanted for his design.
There is no way to make it with machining marks afterward, except removing material with a lathe. It needs to be done by the manufacturer.
Yeah, he stuck that on his electric drill and hit it with sandpaper for many many hours. This is why I was thinking of using my friend’s lathe. Hopefully the same result in a fraction of the time.
