I’m interested in 2 of the drivers.
Part of the reason why I dedomed mine from the get go
The 219C in my stock FWAA is showing weird brightness distribution which very much looks as if the lens already damaged the domes (slightly twisted them off) on 2/3 LEDs.
Okay, this is more interest than I expected.
Might actually be worth upping from 5 to 10 units - this should lower the prices for all involved due to economics of scale working a bit more in our favor. I’ll do the math tomorrow.
Ah, one more thing - I am EU based. So no idea if it is worth joining in at all for US based people. I think cheapest EU → US shipping I can do is >20$.
I would certainly be interested in 1 or 2 modding kits.
Edit: in Germany
I would definitely grab one of these from you.
sono interessato anche se mi sono perso (colpa dell’inglese) su cosa stai vendendo
I meant to tag you too, glad you saw it already.
How many drivers would you need to order to make ordering them assembled worthwhile?
Also just for clarity, the current kits proposed are of unassembled drivers.
These drivers have components on both sides and will not be fun nor easy to assemble on your own:
Hahaha!
That is a good question. thefreeman did not export automated assembly files, but I am pretty sure I could hack them together with a bit of effort in excel - jlcpcbs assembly files are pretty easy to hand-make. 2 sided assembly itself adds 50$ setup fee + 7$ stencil fee to the ~7$ cost of the bare PCBs.
jlcpcb lacks a lot of parts present on this driver. Could order all in from Mouser, however for a small fee (they offer this by now). I think it should end up a similar or lower component price than if I have to buy the parts myself.
Only the brass button would need manual assembly.
So if we order 10 PCBs, it’s about 6-7$ extra per board for assembly, rough estimate. If we get to 10-20 PCBs, should be worth it. But at that point, maybe @thefreeman would prefer running the batch himself. I asked the files from him to order a small 5 unit batch. If it gets any more, I’d have to discuss it again with him. I do not want to run a big semi-commercial PCB batch off of files he gave me for personal use (even if I sell at cost and make no profit myself). I would, however, volunteer to make a jlcpcb BOM/POS file for automated assembly if he should consider running a prod batch of those himself I have done tens of assembled orders for various PCBs and am pretty fast at making assembly files by now.
At 10+ units, might also be worth checking copper MCPCB prices again.
Wow, but thanks for the offer 1st, as well as for checking for all of this possible batch and finally thanks for proposing to volontiers volontiers the assembly files in case of à bigger batch.
This is great and trulli apreciated devotion
I cross fingers, this get done at the end …
I stay tuned for updates
Please add me to the interest group list if you are planning to fabricate the boost drivers.
I am in for 2 kits
I’d be in for three drivers if we can get them assembled. Not sure I could handle the assembly myself.
I’d be in for a driver if I could get an FWAA! To add to my collection.
I got mine on eBay like 2 weeks ago. They had more, as well
If you are in EU or australia , i know few shop who still have some fwaa
SST cool white tho
Any updates?
Keep me in. I assembled one from myself but I want to buy 2 for my FWAA… this driver is superb!
in the meantime I asked lumintop if they still have the optics and mcpcb… unfortunately not, I was interested in them for other projects, I suppose it is better to stick with the wurkkos optics
Please include me for at least two drivers if you have them fabricated. Thank you
