In the process of doing a review on this light. A few things stand out very quickly…

The step down is a thermal regulation, so it will be dependent on the ambient as to how long it actually will run on Turbo before stepping down. Moon is a bit tricky to operate one handed, you hold the side switch while turning the light on at the tail, after bumping through levels moon is not attainable without turning it off and repeating this procedure. The primary modes can be selected through the tail switch. The tail switch uses last mode memory from the side switch to come on where it was last in use unless multiple clicks at the tail are used to change it.

The XP-L is de-domed very clean, reported to have a 4500K tint AFTER removal of the dome. I’m thinking it’s an V5 1A or V6 1D, that’s where I’d put my money anyway. And the mcpcb is custom, direct thermal path and large.

A pair of 18500 cells runs it without the extension tube, the output numbers don’t change. Partially used rested cells, new LG HE-4 cells, whatever, it’s very stable and my lightbox shows me slightly higher numbers than they quote but pretty much spot on. Pretty much regulates at 2A tail cap readings, this goes up or down depending on how hot the cells are, from 1.95 to 2.04A in a few tests which would indicate it’s keeping the XP-L at ~4A. I haven’t actually pulled a wire and tested emitter amperage yet, but will tomorrow probably.

There are a pair of R050 sense resistors, changing these will boost output but probably also mess with the 3 lumen moon mode and change the 100 lumen low and 650 lumen Mid. Looks to be using the 070N resistor we first used when building FET’s, it’s a heavy duty one that should hold up very well. Buck drivers really don’t like being tampered with, so I’d think strongly about trying to bump output.

Straight out of the box this one easily throws just like they say it does. The white barn beamshot at 610 yds is pretty impressive. Very nice light, Olight made the right improvements here.

Not sure what the price is here, would be interested to know but won’t be buying one as I have this one. Great light, y’all enjoy!

Please PM me too.
Thanks
