Thinking of adding a flashlight to my EDC, but have little to no room in my front pockets, refuse to wear anything on my waist band or belt for comfort reasons, and don’t like putting things in my back pockets for the same reason.
I was thinking I could put this little thing in my watch pocket, or the fifth pocket as younger generations have come to call it.
Thoughts or better/other recommendations? Not looking to spend more than $40.
I wear a RovyVon key chain light on a beaded chain around my neck all day. Super lite weight, I don’t even know it’s there. Bunch of keychain lights and AAA lights out there that are just as lite and just as bright. My daughter does the same thing with the Olight i3e. Pick one that you like the features and UI of and give it a shot. I normally have a Zebralight in my pocket but if I run out without it I always have the one around my neck.
Hmmm, a neck flashlight, like a neck knife. Good idea. Now to determine if I can let go of the neck knife in order to do that, or try doing both maybe? Hmmm
Thanks for the thought, I’ll look into the lights you mentioned.
Edit: okay looked into this RovyVon and I’m loving it! Very impressive little thing. Love other ideas if there are any similar, but as for now it’s on the list!
You know what, I fell in love so fast I just went ahead and ordered both the RovyVon (Aurora A5) and the NiteCore TIP 360 from Amazon.
Judging by dimensions and weight, I think I can sport RovyVon around the neck on Paracord and the NiteCore in the fifth pocket right next to my mini knife. Seems it should all fit just fine.
Excellent. I think you will be happy with both lights. Ordering two lights at a time? Yep, I think the bug has bitten you already. Put down the credit card slowly and take two steps backwards.
Its ok but ihate the clip, broke it within a month or two and the usb port is then exposed, no rubber flap to cover, but its bright and has good beam for a keychain light.
I bought these and ditched the clip on mine. They fit pretty well and I figured plenty of spares when I lose one. Still got the 1st one after 3 months of EDC on my car keyring.
Thanks for the input. I’ll try the clip art first, to see if I like it. I figure there’s no way 300+ linens isn’t sufficient enough. I read somewhere, long ago, that you only need about 100 lumens to temporarily blind someone, for self defense purposes. So I’m confident they’ll also be more than enough to light my path on a dark night, help me get the key in my door when the porch light goes out, and search for my pocket knife when it falls out as I sit in the car. Should be good enough for me.
Now I just need some cheapo lights for my bug out bag. I’m thinking AAA or AA, no more than two batteries.
Old trusty SK68’s are good for cheap AA. It’s a zoomie too. I just leave it on flood though. I have a bunch of them I leave around the house for the kids and wife. They have a single mode version and a three mode version. Here is a single mode version. 3 pack for $10.99, sometimes you can find them cheaper.
I purchased the original TIP when it came out awhile back and I couldn’t be happier with its performance. I keep it on my keychain in my pocket and it doesn’t bother me much at all. Its robust and holds its charge really well. . . . I also have the TINI from Nitecore as well but I recommend you stay away from that one.
Well I got them both in yesterday and couldn’t be happier! Wow, that RovyVon is something! I’m floored by the quality and features. Thanks so much for everything guys!
Ah ha! This is it, the SK68 is exactly what I want and am looking for. That’s what the J5 Tactical thing I had was. Perfect, and GearBest has several for under $5! Thanks so much for that!
i really like the tip, use it as neck light like Todd mentioned. Tried it on keys but it turns on accidentally too often even if just in my sweatshirt pocket on keyring. I had the clip covering the buttons but it broke pretty fast, the clips not that robust, it works really well around the neck, but I don’t think you can get away with it in the 5th pocket without it turning on all the time. Maybe next version will have recessed switch.
