Don’t know if it has been mentioned here, but the C8 sold by Banggood now has only 1 mode.

The mode to hide SOS and strobe is not available.

And the spring inside is replaced by some other thingy.

Thanks for the hint, I hadn’t heard of these two modes but following the instructions here Get the Convoy C8 AK47 from Banggood (8*7135) I managed to move to “Mode 1” without strobe/SOS, cool !

I still find the button a bit sensitive and it’s easy to change by accident.

That center, brightest part, is generally called the ‘hotspot’. The ring of light around the hotspot is generally referred to as the ‘corona’. The outer most ring is typically ‘spill’.

SMO reflector accentuates these rings while giving slightly more throw. Orange peel reflector makes them blend a bit more and is generally more appealing to the eye (slightly less throw).

The prominence, size, intensity, amount of rings, etc tends to vary quite a bit from flashlight to flashlight. What you described is normal on C8’s.

If you’re feeling up to it you can pretty easily take apart the tailcap with sturdy tweezers. The two holes/indents in the retaining ring allow enough purchase to unscrew it and the contents will slide on out. Place a washer in between the top of the switch and the rubber tailcap boot. Experiment with different thicknesses to get your optimal switch sensitivity.

I think you have the previous batch where the driver can switch between Group 1 and Group 2.

The latest batch by Banggood has only [Group 2 (5 modes) Low 5% – Mid 50% – High 100% – Strobe – SOS] available.

@unknown00101 - thanks for the insight, I’m tempted to give an SMO reflector a try, I’ll check BG to see if they sell them separately for a reasonable price.

Just ordered this from BG. Seems like an amazing deal for $14.xx after coupon code. Can someone please tell me if I can fit my protected 18650B’s in this light? I also have some protected 18650A’s as well. Will they both fit??

Well, I will answer my own question. Just received my Convoy C8 today from Banggood, and YES, my 18650A’s fit perfectly fine. Thanks for the help people! lol

But anyhow, the light is great. Very nice build quality, nice beam and very bright.

That one does have the possibility to hide the blinkies.

It’s not completely as advertised though, because mine came with an SMO instead of an OP.

Ordered my first budget flashlight from banggood a few days ago, the convoy C8.

Im in the UK, so if any other members have ordered one, how long did it take to arrive?

I ordered a Convoy C8 from banggood 2 months ago, and would now change the mode system by bridging the third star.
And…… nothing changed baffled by that I did a under voltage test, and…… nothing could go down to 2.3V.

So i did take a good look at the driver, and noticed there are components missing, and by comparing to the real nanjg 105c there are even traces missing.
The driver chip is unmarked.
It looks like the driver is a look-a-like 105c, with no other function…

I’ve now replaced it with a good one.

I have never ordered from BG but from other shops I’d say that from the day it got shipped it takes 2-4 weeks with China Post and around 2 weeks with both Malaysia Post and NL Post. This is for free shipping to Sweden.
