I think it is a fantastic gesture, and I’m very sorry for your wallet. I could have made that mistake myself.
Assume that all people who speak English also share the same TV-standard. So I was a bit surprised myself to see that “down-under” has the PAL-system that covers most of Europe, including the UK (UK was not “in sync” in the B&W-days!). I put in a link for the people who want to know where the NTSC -standard of your TV is supported (green color on map).
