Glow In the Dark - Paracord, O-rings, Switch Boots etc.

I like glow stuff. I'm leaving out the tape, paint and powders I've tried in favor of stuff w/ the glow 'built in'

Please post your own links and feedback on products - I'll update this post...

intl outdoor lanyard has strong glow (haven't tested duration), kind of a pale/pastel green in daylight, more like regular cord than para, overall worth the money just for the hardware on it, at least to me

TAILCAPS

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/silicone-tailcap-for-flashlights-green-10-pack-5031

5031 is thinner/flimsier, has shorter internal nipple? and less glow than 5714 - though some report 5714 is fine

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/glow-in-the-dark-silicone-tailcaps-for-flashlights-14mm-green-10-pack-5714

says 16mm but maybe 14mm? http://kaidomain.com/product/details.S003017

see post 39 - avoid these at DD http://www.dinodirect.com/accessories-tail-cap-flashlight-noctilucent-switch.html

These (SKU.5714) are crap. GITD stuff is spotty.

I've heard the other ones are better.

yes, forgot to add a comment, i've tried both, too

Lighthound has some GITD .

Great links! Thanks for assembling all those links.

May I ask do you think those rubber boot caps will fit on a Fenix LD20 or E21?

Or are they mostly for the Chinese branded lights, or are all boots universal fit?

you're welcome

I'll go through and put a short description above each soon

there are definitely different sizes out there but i 'think' the DX ones are the most common size (they're the same OD). they show the measurements so you could measure the one in your lights to compare

Cool thread. I'm trying to decide how the hell to make my SC600 "stand out" in the middle of the night :D

Easy: Turn it on. 0:)

i've ordered these (DX) and am eager to see if they fit on the Xeno E03 (anywhere!), or on the 4Sevens Quark. will let you guys know.

I like gitd as well, but I am always so dissappointed when they fade away after a few minutes.

except for Tritium vials, are there any of the things that you mention that does what it says?

"Glow In The dark" ???

I think the DX sku.5714 tailcaps are a hit-or-miss thing. I have a pack and mine glow nicely. I agree, the HF glow-rope is really cool. I don't have any use for it, but bought one of the small rolls to play with because I like GITD stuff. I charged it with a blacklight and it glowed for hours. Maybe use it as tent-rope when camping to avoid tripping???

Edit: I would like to find the large-diameter o-rings used on the lenses of the TR-1200 and other hosts. Even a 28mm lens o-ring for the P60 hosts would be nice. I tried making a larger diameter o-ring by cutting/gluing a couple of smaller rings and got terrible results. Cry

resley.elvisp - the duration and brightness of phosphorescence varies w/ what you use to 'charge' it and for how long. The best way I've seen to charge glow stuff, besides the sun, is a UV laser. The results are quite shocking. Here's a page that will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about exactly how bright and for how long some different materials glow. http://glowinc.com/glow-in-the-dark/info.aspx

I'm going to finally edit some of the link descriptions in OP now

Okay, I have a question here.

DD is selling a few different kinds of GITD tailcaps. Green and even Blue.

1.They have the usual 10pieces (look same as DX) for $1.99 diameter 17.5mm

2.They also have some that is green and 1 piece for $2.69 diameter 17.5mm

3.They also have another green thats 1 piece for $2.69 diameter is 20mm

4.They also have another blue thats 1 piece for $2.69 diameter 17.5mm

5.They also have another blue thats 1 piece for $2.69 diameter 20mm

I wonder if they are really only 1 piece for 2.69? or if it has more in the package. Seems pretty expensive to have only 1 for that price.. Or they might be really good stuff. anyone tried one of them?

18mm GITD O-rings http://kaidomain.com/product/details.S003021

Supposedly 16mm GITD tail caps (hard to find if they really are 16mm and not 14mm) http://kaidomain.com/product/details.S003017

Can anyone give me some feedback on the DX GITD cord? Does it glow fine? Would water damage it? Washable?

Want to use it as zipper pulls.

I can't, but I'll offer my 2 cents - I'd go with the lighthound cord if I only needed a couple feet...

For what I can tell by the pictures, I prefer the texture of the the DX. It's more similar to paracord than the LH one.

Another question: does anyone have another source for those arrow-head lanyard closure? Preferably on an European site and that uses paypal?

Found this a long time ago, but never could make a purchase...

On ebay, sometimes I found those, but my account got screwed up, and I am still trying to fix it with the EBay support.

agreed, paracord is much nicer than rope. I haven't heard any feedback on the DX stuff, so if you get it, please let us know. It should be spring time here by then

What about tritium? Is it illegal to get in the US now? I've got a couple tailcaps that have slots that look perfect for tritium vials but the vials seem nearly impossible to find anymore.

I believe this is the Gear for Flashlight Carriers section in the forum....

Ontopic: I went ahead and bought the DX GITD cord. Will give feed back when it arrives.
