Checked out my local Home Depot store this morning and low and behold there's a new Defiant light in town! This was located up front in the seasonal deals area and there was an entire display of them. Of course I grabbed one! Only $22.97. These must have just come in stock because I was there last week and didn't see them. Modding the Defiant 3C and 3D lights with Maglite parts. Beam Shots in Post #32

Now that I have the 3C and 3D lights, I want to mod them. For me, both of these lights are way too bulky and that 3D is a heavyweight. I need to get them lighter and shorter. [1d] It is amazing that the switch from a D Maglite is a perfect fit in the body of this D Armormax light. I guess I can use a Mag switch and cut the body down, for a 1D. Quick and easy is relative, but here goes. Get a Kaidomain NANJG 105C driver here. Replace the stock driver with the NANJG. Solder across S2 per the KD instructions for H/M/L modes. Use the original driver spring on the new driver.

Get some copper braid from Radio shack and run it through the inside of tail cap spring and the driver spring. Solder it at both ends to the springs. (resistance lowering mod).

Use 3 C NiMH or one 18650 with a dummy cell, to power the light.

If you want a glass lens, buy a 67mm lens filter from ebay for a under $5 bucks and remove the lens from the filter and slip in into the light.

Welcome. What part of Big Sky Country are you from? Years ago I used to guide Elk archery Elk hunters up on the Missouri river not far from the Charles M. Russel wilderness area. One of my favorite hunting places.
