My old porch flashlight died - it was not great, a no-name model found in a box. I’d like to replace it. I figured it would be interesting to run this by you all.
Here are my parameters:
Reasonably priced - this flashlight will be hanging on a porch outside of the door. It has some potential to be stolen or damaged. If it looks normal / boring - that’s better.
Able to handle heat and cold - while not directly exposed, it will have no climate control
Floody or balanced beam - I have good throwers inside the house
Low Drain - it’s going to sit around a lot
CRI is not really important here. I have AAA, AA, 18650, and 21700 cells available - though keep in mind the first point on price. I have D and C adapters for AA cells if that is relevant.
Any reason you’d keep the light outside rather than immediately inside the door? And would you prefer an EDC recommendation instead, so you’d have the light on you at any time?
Just keep it out of direct rain/snow. They’re not weatherproof, but as long as they don’t get soaked, they should last quite a while. And even if not, you’re out, what?, 1buk?
