Gorilla Grip LED Tactical Handheld Flashlight

Received a Gorilla Grip LED Tactical Handheld Flashlight for Christmas. It looks like a nice inexpensive light that has a very bright LED in it. The only problem is that my new light was missing the entire front lens and lens holding bracket! I contacted the company and they said I had to provide a receipt for it. I told them it was a gift and they still insisted. I cannot provide a receipt so I offered to PAY for a new front lens so my light would be able to focus a beam properly. They said they would NOT be able to help me! I even sent them pictures of their light that showed the missing lens. Still they refused even with me offering to pay them. No was their answer. Buyer beware!

If this is the light you are referring to it’s only $8.99 you might as well buy a new one from Amazon yourself and send the old one back in the new ones box then get a refund - not exactly ‘the way to do it’ and perhaps a bit dishonest but if they refuse to help, well what’s good for the goose…. - ideally it should have been returned by the gifter 2/3 weeks ago - but Amazon MIGHT still offer a return if they ask nicely (if it was from Amazon)

I think its time you looked at Convoy, Sofirn, and Wurkkos. Very low cost budget lights and excellent quality.

No idea about the light itself but these days many companies don’t actually manufacture the products they sell…like in this case they are 100% just rebadging some normal catalog product and getting it with their own packaging/branding. This means - most usually - that they do not have parts to offer you, for sale or for free, and their only option is to just replace whole units. This has become the norm with So Many things. With better companies/larger companies I’ve been shocked sometimes at what they have decided to replace as a whole unit when it seems like they should be able to provide particular parts easily…such is life when you are batch ordering from overseas. Very common in many industries/product categories.

But yeah, if it was a cheap zoomie, you can buy those super cheap…even order a lithium-ion battery and sometimes they will use these cheap lights as free “shipping containers” so as to meet shipping regulations…that’s how cheap and ubiquitous the are. I’ll bet if you look around you can find a twin-pack or three-pack for around $10 on ebay or amazon.

These were 3.99 ? 3.59 $ a while ago . Prices might be going up but not all that much. Otoh they also sold for $ 69.95 .
The upside is if you liked the output etc of this light . It only gets better .

seems as though https://liionwholesale.com Is doing a giveaway which includes one of these lights with their name on it … maybe just maybe they have a dud for parts . Maybe buy a battery or two too . https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/72304

Yep, those are some of the best low budget brands.

It is a far cry from Fenix.

Thanks for everyone’s comments/help/ideas! I live in a very rural area in NorthCentral PA and have lots of Amish neighbors. Flashlights are very necessary to them. Without electricity, they have to use flashlights in their barns, bedrooms and just everywhere around the farms at night. I am good friends with several Amish families and give them gifts of lanterns, flashlights and even headlamps at Christmas and some times just when I see one or two of their 9 children passing thru my fields at night to get to their relatives house. This is why I buy bright but inexpensive flashlights. I wish I could give them all Streamlights or Surefires but it would get expensive for that undertaking. I am a Senior citizen and inflation has hit all of us hard! Led lights have been a blessing. They even have changed over to LED lights on their Buggies! Now less Buggies are being hit at night by speeding cars! Please let me know of good deals on LED lights that use AA or AAA batteries. Thanks!

That’s pretty cool, xyz…good on ya! Are they 100% stuck on alkaline cells or is it a possibility to switch to lithium (or even NiMH), perhaps with a solar setup for charging?

Home Depot often has some good deals on cheaper lights around and after the holidays. They had some pretty decent Milwaukee penlights this year at 2 for $20…they have a nice warm high cri emitter in them. Those would be great for around the house, even close work outside or a trip to the shed, etc. If you have one in your region or can order online (free shipping usually) it might be worth keeping tabs there to see what pops up. Lots of enthusiast lights with good emitters and features that will run alkaline but $15-$20 each or higher is the norm. Lots of cheapies on Amazon, too, usually decent and serviceable but cheaper quality and the usual cold white (or blue-white) emitters, but you can find lots of those from $5 to $15.

That’s good about the carriages…been a long time since I lived where they used those (a few hours west of you) but there were some terrible accidents even when they started putting the caution placards on them.

One of the best things about the LED lights is their low drain on batteries. The Amish batteries in their Buggies now last for many weeks between charges instead of days. Typically they use Marine or car batteries for their Buggy lights. I know because I use to charge many of their batteries much more frequently than I do now! Kind of neat seeing the Buggies go down the road with Bright LED lightning! I am sure they have eliminated many of the horrible night accidents between cars and Buggies. My favorite personal light is a Surefire P6 with a replacement LED light module from Custom lights. What a difference! I go spotting Deer at night with this little light! I get at least 10X more light and throw!

I was about to ask how people with no electricity could recharge their flashlight batteries, but I think you just answered it.

Maybe you could get them some Cygolite Hypershot taillights for their buggies. Those lights on blink mode can be seen a half mile away in daylight; at night they are purely awesome.

One thing I know from my Amish Neighbors is that they are very resourceful and network with each other. I will have to ask what type of LED lights they are using! Many people get the impression that they are very backward but strange as some of their ways are to us, if the internet crashed, all of our electricity went out and all our cell phones stopped working, the Amish would still be warm and comfortable in the middle of the winter! How many of us can say that?

The Amish will turn out to be the smarter folks in the not so distant future, if not already.

Update! Just went to an Amish store that buys returns from Cabela! Streamlight flashlights for 50% off! Bought a as new PolytacX for $25.00 and their House was powered by Solar panels!
