Got my first Hank light. D4v2 in green/bronze

This thing is gorgeous.

I got NTG35 5000k channel 1 and NTG35 2700k channel 2. I love the tint mix.

I need to learn the channel/tint ramping in Anduril still, as this is my first time having a light that can do that.

I also ordered some extra metal and rubber buttons, along with some bezels etc.

I think I like the ring button over the dot button.

This thing is beautifully crafted. It is beyond my expectations.

Now I think I’ll need a KR1K next. Maybe a DA1K as well.

Welcome to the Hank club.

Yeah, same. The dot button is my least favorite, and it’d be nice if it wasn’t default. It eats most of the light. I want the clear/white button if possible, for maximum shine, or the ring otherwise… and I don’t really bother with anything else.

A couple notes about the 2-channel / tint-ramping models… the driver has a much smaller dynamic range than single-channel models, so it can’t do low modes as well. Also, most 2-channel drivers are linear so they’re less efficient than a boost driver. So if there is a single LED you really like the color of, I’d recommend doing it as 1-channel (especially with a HDR boost driver) instead of a 2-channel driver.

For a tail-switch light, I’d recommend sticking to something narrow for a comfortable cigar grip. The KR1AA, for example, is really nice. Larger lights like the KR1K are a bit wide and long and heavy for a cigar grip, so the ergonomics are weird.

The DA1K is great though. I like it, in particular, in NTG50 4200K with a throwy optic and DC-Fix added to the lens to blur the beam a bit. It’s still reasonably throwy… just smoother.

Thanks TK, and thanks for your insight as well.

This is my first NTG emitter and I love it. I currently have the channel/tint ramping set to use 2700k only on moon. That works pretty well in regards to the low not being super low.

The RGB switch is really cool with the ring button. The dot doesn’t do it justice.

Funny you mention the DA1K/NTG50 4200k. I’ve had this in my cart waiting to pull the trigger.

I keep bouncing back and forth on color options. I may end up with another green/bronze. Blue/black was my seconds choice, just to change things up.

Personally, I’m fond of the grey ano with silver steel bezel and clip. He doesn’t seem to offer that at the moment though. In its place is midnight blue, which looks nice with black steel trim. I have a bunch of grey+steel Hanklights, because I like the combination, but I don’t have any in midnight blue because it’s brand new. Silver ano is also new within the last couple months, and red was added like a year or two ago.

I hope the grey ano isn’t gone for good. The grey+silver look may be plain, but I think it looks classy.

Yeah, the ano grey/stainless does look classy. I’m normally not a huge fan of blue, but it looks great with all the black trim.
Now, if he offered orange, that would tickle me. It’s funny because orange is not high up on my list of favorite colors, but there is something about an orange flashlight that just gets me.

I tried several NTG35 D4K mules to hang over my stove for cooking. 5000K was too “clinical,” 2700K just too “warm,” 4200K absolutely nailed it, perfect for looking at food while cooking (in my opinion, at least).
