Mateminco MT-007 packs a LOT of brightness (both peake and sustained) and runtime at a low price with what seems to be a good quality driver. I don’t think anything else competes with it at those metrics alone. However, the rest of the light feels under-developed like a prototype. Its unwieldy to hold and the handle sucks. Charging is slow and the battery indicator system is confusing. The UI is lacking a number of standard features, making it cumbersome to use. The beam has a lot of artifacts. I like the concept of a large flooder with this huge 46950 battery, but this execution leaves a lot to be desired and I wouldn’t buy it.
Maybe the Mateminco version is different? My Astrolux version prformed much better and closer to spec. I got 63 amps at the tail, so no doubt it will easily pull 65 amps. The driver is Fet+buck, with a an up to 30 amp regulated channel. It’s a very impressive driver for a sub $150 light. Given the price this is one I actually highly recommend. Yah the app is really an afterthought and needs to be ported to the Play Store. Even woth rhe misses, you can’t get another $130 light that performs this good. Period.
The driver and price/performance is excellent for sure, possibly best in class. That stuff just doesn’t matter as much to me as the basic usability of the light, and that’s where this one falls short. The bad UI, bad switch, bad handle, and unweildiness without the handle make it not fun to use for me. I find myself reaching for my Convoy 3X21C instead because the experience of using it is significantly better. If you’re just after performance then MT-007 is fantastic.
54 year battery life from parasitic drain is certainly competitive with other brands.
All kidding aside. Great review and great light.
I would be curious if its identical to the equivalent Astrolux.
I’d say they are the same with maybe subtle differences?
Indeed it is, lol. Putting the values in that line made me chuckle.
