Grizzly's Nitecore EDC25 Review – Thin, Lightweight Hotrod

I love the brightness, throw, battery indicators, USB-C charging, and dedicated Turbo switch. I like the rest of the UI, the main switch, the proximity sensor implementation, and the price tag. The build quality, aesthetics, and pocket clip are all fine. I don’t like the built-in battery, but it comes with the territory (all flat-style EDC lights like this).

The coolest thing about EDC25 is how it combines light weight, insane brightness, and tactical features in a flat-style EDC light. There’s nothing else on the market bringing all those features together. I think it’s more compelling than Nitecore’s EDC27 model too because it’s lighter, less expensive, throwier, and has a simpler/easier indicator system.

Noice! That’s one detailed review!

Nice to have the 2-stage switch like my beloved MH20. I always thought (and still do) that their UI for the '20 is among the best out there. Super intuitive, especially the shortcuts.

If I ever got one, I’d poke around to see if pouch-cells came in anything close to the existing one’s dimensions, just in case I ever had to replace it.

Truthfully, though, I don’t think I ever “wore out” any cells. But then again, I just recharge ‘em when they seem low, so even if one lost half its capacity, I might not even notice unless I’d stick it on the Ol’ Opus to test it.

Like, if I were a plumber or house-inspector or somesuch where I’d be burning through cells on a daily basis on the job, I might, but just putzing around the house/yard/street?

Thanks! Glad you like the review!

I hear you about wearing out cells. I’ve only ever “worn out” one cell, and that was after two years of daily carry. It was an Olight cell that started tripping the protection circuit every time I used Turbo.

Hmm, that’s an odd one.
