Grizzly's Olight Marauder Mini 2 Review – More Flood, More Throw

Tl;Dr: I love the build quality, USB-C charging, brightness, throw performance, flood/throw selector switch, beams (especially the spot beam), runtimes, and ergonomics. The carrying case, USB-C lanyard, side light, and red light are all fine but not things I’ll use. I dislike like the UI, rotary knob, exposed optic, poor regulation, the unusual and proprietary battery, missing powerbank function, inflated brightness specifications, and high price tag. It delivers impressive flood and throw beams with respectable runtime and does so in a somewhat overcomplicated and/or suboptimal way.

Nice review, too bad about the proprietary battery. That has kept me away from unique olights for over a decade now. Also for such a large battery the led/ driver performance seems very underwhelming. Hopefully somewhat by design due to poor thermals.
And let’s beat the dead horse: crappy emitters. Bad (imho as a non colorblind person) tint and abysmal CRI. Unfortunately due to the complexities of the UI and the extravagant price it seems like a poor host for modding with good LEDs and driver. Ill take Noctagon DM1.12 for half the price any day.

Great points.

I like the LED selection, personally. I want maximum brightness from a big light like this one, and these LEDs deliver that better than nicer-looking high-CRI warmer LEDs. I’ve got other lights for when I need high CRI.

DM1.12 is a great competitor I hadn’t considered. I should add that to the competition list.
