【Group Buy Begins】SOFIRN SC13 Copper with Anduril2, SFT40 3000K/5000K + removable clip

More than it is worth to said Big Company.
And people would pizz and moan about the shipping for the small item as well.
Different tools for different jobs, this light is meant to be small and stay small.

Late to the show, and missed this one completely. Is there any chance that one of you guys that aren’t happy with the unavailability of the 18650 extension tube (or any other reason - greed included :upside_down_face: ) would like to rehome your SC13 copper to someone who collects copper LED lights and would like to add a copper Sofirn to his collection? Will be willing to pay (reasonable) premium. Have PLENTY of references in the LED light community. Please PM me. Dennis O’Brien

I asked about this on Reddit and was hoping it would have had more support but there were only a few that liked this idea. To me this is a no brainer. I say this owning 2 D4V2 Hanklights and I did the opposite of buying the 18350 short tubes. It’s always great to have options.

Seems like an easy way for them to make more $$$ and I can’t see why they wouldn’t do it. I’d buy aluminum and copper both.

1 Thank

And here I am wanting them to turn this into a headlamp somehow. hahaha

@ Beacon_of_Light & Dobtruckers:

Thank you both for your replies.

Speaking for myself, I would like to keep my SC13 Copper flashhlights regardless and I realise that is also a form of particular greed. So my apologies for that, but maybe there are others who want to take you up on your offer. And mayb e, just maybe, Sofirn (Jinba) might be swayed in the near future to come out with an updated SC13 Copper V.2 which hopefully in that situation would come WITH the wretched 18650 extension ring as an accessory.

I am not a daily or even weekly reader of flashlight forums I have to say, so much to do, so little time, you probably know what I mean, but I have also noted on Reddit and here that enthusiasm from some (maybe thee is a silent majority in favour of the idea, but we wouldn’t know it ?!) enthusiasts is not what you would expect from them. Personally I do not buy the argument that it’s supposed to stay small and such. It kind of angers be if I’m totally honest about it. But okay. It is galling to see Sofirn has black anodised aluminium extension tubes (double male instead of 1 male and 1 female screwwire) for other flashlight models but is unwilling to give this proper thought and whereas Barry Lee was present some time ago, there apparently is no reason to be here now which I find disappointing. I am Dutch so no I am not wrapping it in giftpaper, nope. I asked Sofirn/Junba about this “Evan” and “Barry” but received no answer and I am keeping track of such things. Just saying. But I digress.

I have found one solutionof sorts to the limited battery capacity problem and that is something which also was found by someone on Reddit and that is that you can attach two SC13’s to one another by means of the magetic tailcaps, but only if the polarity of the magnet is in the right direction. This needs a small explanation no doubt. Underneath the tailcap messing battery spiral there is a thin, round magnet, thinnwer than a coin and if you are lucky and you have two or more of the SC13 series then you will find that some repulse eachother magnetically and some attract eachother if you are in luck. But you can also open the tailcap, pull out the messing spiral and then with moderate force applied to a needle or tiny screwdriver you can break the small amount of glue that keeps the round magnet in place and then you simply flip it around and then your polarity (North or South) is solved and you should be able to magnetically attach two Sc13 flashlights. I have had luck with 2 and forced the issue as described with the others and then you end up with some sort of Darth Maul style lightsabre and at the same time you have 2 flashlights in your hand which doubles the time you can use them, albeit that is technically one after the other ofcourse. The magnetism is just about strong enough to not loose one accidentally, but you do not want to swing it around or drop it ofocurse because that will break the magentic bond. “OBVIOUSLY…” as Professor Snape might say were he alive today. ;-D

I have a picture of that on my phone, but as I’m an older, Gen X clumsy user that will have to wait until I can transfer it to my laptop.

EDIT: Now it’s here !

I want to add that yesterday I got a PM from Barry about this as I had written a PM to him as well about 14 days prior. He will at least bring it to the table again and discuss it further. No guarantees yet, but it will be looked at again. Thank you Barry and my apologies for my impatient words earlier.

Has anyone tried to open this flashlight?.. it has just fallen to the ground (1 meter high) and it no longer lights up

I plugged it into the power without a battery and it turned back on and now it works as before…what kind of witchcraft is this?

Is there going to be another run of the SC13 in copper? The product page is hidden from site navigation, but I was able to pull it up via Google. So was the group-buy at $39.99?

The copper version will not be produced for the time being, but an aluminum version with the same configuration will be available soon.
