Good point! The “danger” aspects come into play here as well, besides the brightness ramp functionality. I haven’t looked into a possible LED danger so far, but when it comes to HOT danger, I can report that, at least with (cool) outdoor use, the torch does not get excessively hot fast. Then again, I usually do not run turbo for extended time periods anyway, so YMMV.
That is a good call out. A couple things worth noting about this situation… Sofirn generally likes the Simple UI ceiling to be max (150) to avoid user complaints about the flashlight not being as bright as advertised. I completely understand that point.
I think it is perfectly normal in Anduril to have the ceiling be lower than max in Advance UI because of the distinction between ceiling (the ramp limit) and turbo (the brightest with a 2C from the top). Many lights, including the D3AA, use a ceiling of 130. What I think is odd, though, is that I have RAMP_SMOOTH_CEIL as 150 and not 130. That wasn’t something I did intentionally.
Thanks, got it. And if ceiling in Simple UI is 150 anyway, one 150 in Advanced UI doesn’t seem to be a major concern.
Looks like a straightforward fix then. And for now, it took me no time to change this to 130 in Ramp Config.
Being that this light uses a 16340 battery which usually suffers from voltage sag, do not think this is a real danger.
Why personally hate this form factor, never had a 16340 that didn’t want to not top off @4.20, always get stuck around 4.16-17
Just got delivery of this copper model today and really like the fit and finish but it literally is the only 16340 size flashlight that I have purchased in the last 5 years.
Always prefer 18350 size that can use longer tube to 18650. Then the capacity of even just the 18350 is acceptable.
Your voltage may Vary ![]()
My SC13 Copper was sent with 18350. Does yours set with 16340?
SOB,
I’m an idiot!
Just used to seeing the small length in my 16340’s that are black like this cell.
Opened the light, pulled the cardboard blocker and fired it up.
Sorry for the mental fart.
Take it all back now, still don’t think you will hurt that emitter without really trying, but who knows.
@Barry0892 Here is some feedback on a possible error regarding Anduril 2 in the user manual that came along with the SC13 Copper. This is not about the new layout itself (which, as I noticed, did not receive much love recently over at Reddit), but about the content of the description for switching between Simple UI and Advanced UI:
If I am reading this correctly, this description states that with 10H(or in your terminology Press*9 & Hold) you switch from Simple UI to Advanced UI, and back. But to switch back from Advanced UI to Simple UI, you need to do 10C (or in your terminology Press*10). 10H (or Press*9 & Hold) from Advanced UI will not go to Simple UI, but rather to the Simple UI config menu within Advanced UI.
To illustrate what I am talking about with this difference, I have marked 10H and 10C from Advanced UI’s OFF in this “vanilla” Anduril 2 (release 2025-07-07) diagram by myself (source):
It looks like I missed the group buy. I realize I’m a little late checking in, but it says both options are sold out. Did reserving them not actually do anything?
It didn’t feel like we were reserving anything, like i still was able to buy my lights but i didn’t get a secret code to unlock the sale or anything like that.
I tried it, and it’s exactly as you said; switching from advanced mode back to simple mode requires executing 10C.
Yeah. I figure a straightforward fix for the SC13 Copper user manual would be to only document the UI switch from Simple UI to Advanced UI. As far as I can tell, the SC13 Copper user manual only focuses on Simple UI anyway.
For some reason, I couldn’t locate the web page for the SC13 Copper with its user manual. But I came across the SC13A, and the user manual for this flashlight also wrongly states 10H for switching from Advanced UI to Simple UI:
By the way, this situation has prompted me to visually highlight the UI switch lines in a new release of the diagram I referred to above, so all of this is helping to clarify the Anduril 2 documentation:
Same. I thought reserving in this thread was to ensure that I am reserving one piece. I am checking now and it’s out of stock. Disappointed that I missed it even after reserving.
I’m very sorry, I actually updated the purchase link in that post in advance. I wanted to give priority to customers who had pre-ordered. However, I was extremely busy at the time and simply didn’t have time to send individual private messages to everyone. Also, I didn’t ask people to leave their email addresses in the pre-order post on Facebook for privacy reasons.
I’m truly sorry, this was all very rushed, and I didn’t expect it to sell out so quickly. Next time I will develop a more thorough plan to avoid a situation like this.
so no more batches are being made ?
I’m interested in at least 2, maybe 4-5 if this flashlight happens to be made again!
Hoping they do an 2026 version.
Hi, I have not yet introduced myself, maybe I’ll get to that lateron, but I have also bought the SC13 Copper but then via the Sofirn webshop site where I also first saw it actually. At the time the 5000K version was said to be sold out, but that was no problem as I always want warmer light temperatures anyway and 3000K is more than excellent for me. In general 5000K is like the final frontier to me. I have a few, but I really don’t like them all that much and when I get into 6500-7000K territory hell freezes over. I see no point to those at all.
Now I do fall as well into the group of people who does not praise small, compact size etcetera over battery capacity, so for me anything smaller than an 18650 is “points deducted”, but in the case of the Sc13 Copper they have done their utmost to get the most out of the 18350 battery because of probably the buck driver and maybe (I wouldn’t know) the efficiency ofthe Luminus SFT 40-3000K as I get two long nights of moonlight output next to the bed which surprised me as this moonlight is rather bright still. But all of this leads me to the point I’d like to make and that is that in my opinion this flashlight just screams for a copper 30mm extension tube to be put between end cap and main body so that we can also start using the 18650. With that accessory this flashlight becomes, in my view, more than perfect (it is now nearly perfect).
And I wonder how many people here share this idea or think it’s a good idea, or not a good idea and how would we get this without access to some acquaintance who can machine these things ? Ideally I would like Sofirn to come up with this accessory and although I would say copper is the most desirable I could live myself with a black version of this extension tube which then also would benefit the other SC13’s out there which again in my view lack the battery capacity to make them really useful (at least to me). Mind you, given my way, all flashlights would have 21700 batteries at minimum. ![]()
I have written to Barry, but maybe he doesn’t come here that often, outside of projects ?
Kind regards to you all, Marc who is Dutch and too old already and has mainly Sofirn products barring one Acebeam Terminator, M1, a Klarus K10 10 years commemorative titanium flashlight using an abhorent 16340 battery and features XP-L cold light and a handfull of Wurkkos FC11(c) flaslights in 2700K and 4000K.
we have so many flashlights available that I would leave this one as it is (the button is not perfect, but ok)
Thanks for your reply, but I think differently about this. I may have quite a lot of flashlights for normal people’s standards, as do most of you I’m sure, but I do not buy and keep flashlights because they are cute or different or anything like that, I do buy them because I want them to be as useful as they can be and in this case, I honestly think the SC13 Copper especially with it’s great buckdriver and LED needs to have more batterycapacity and as the thickness of a 18350 and 18650 is obvioulsy the very same, it is just a small jump to view the apparent omission of such a relatively simple additional piece (the 30mm extension middle piece) to be a missed chance. I actually got a response from Jinba’s customerservice (the mother company behind Sofirn and probably also Wurkkos ,I think) and I must say that it disappointed me severely. I’ll quote:
“Regarding the brass extension tube accessory, we currently have no plans to produce it. It should be noted that the SC13 brass flashlight was a special edition customized for our fans, with very limited production. It is currently sold out, and there are no plans to restock at this time. Therefore, we have no plans to release a brass extension tube.”
How much would it actually cost a fairly big company as Jinba to manufacture a couple of hundreds copper or blackened aluminium extensiontubes ? They wouldfit all SC13’s including the ones they still sell ! I did say to them that from my perspective it could also be a black aluminium piece which would fit their current mainstream SC13 production, but they overlooked that or choose to ignore that.
