In my opinion, we should put on more than 3A output, rarely we keep until your grandchildren or what.
Even you do keep until then, new technology keep coming on and improve, shorten LED life wouldn’t matter because we can just swap out better and more efficient LED of that time. (50k still alot for me) maybe that time BIN S / T would come out.

My suggestion would be adding $3-4 for noctigon, and add turbo would be good enough.

Where are you getting this number from? Is it a best guess? GB mentioned the idea and I would like to hear their price. If it is good, I will probably go from my interest in 1 light to 3 or 4 hosts instead.

Kronological should be the one deciding modes and the only one banggood lisens to. He IS a flashaholic and would make appropriate decisions. Just my opinion.

I’m back but barely coherant…lol. I’m working on very little sleep…so I appreciate your patience…and mega-thanks to peeps like Johnny Mac for keeping track of the interest! This has really blown up to something bigger than I had imagined! As you can tell…l really want to get the numbers up to 200 for the logo. I do not have a light yet with this designation, and I really want one because of my affinity for BLF. Many others indicated similar thoughts. But…there are so many variables to take into consideration. And now that a host might be available…that might confuse things further when considering total numbers for BLF logo. I don’t yet know if Eagle Eye will include hosts as part of the 200, or if hosts will just be available later on. This is a new wrinkle that will have to be bird dogged. Further complicating things…BLFers that indicated a light earlier might switch to a host only, etc. And then there are those that want noctigons, 4 amps…etc. Egads…my brain is starting to hurt just thinking about all the possibilities. Nevertheless, I will continue to get additional info from Neil. He has a good idea of creating a google form that everyone can vote on for the final version. We see what that looks like. We might need to tweak it a little bit to include all possibilities. Thank you all for your patience! krono

Good to see you back, Krono! I think the hosts are, or should,d be, outside the BLF group buy. If Neal manages to get EE to make this with a good driver then I think just about everyone would want the whole light especially with the BLF designation etched into it. This is a BLF edition designed by flashaholics for flashaholics. We don’t care if the LED life will be shortened from 50k hours to just 100 hours.We want the same driver as stock with good modes and hopefully 3.5+ amps to the LED. We won’t be filing warranty claims in a few months if the LED burns out. My main concern is the same excellent driver as stock but with better modes. Its easy to bump the output if we want to. For just $3 or $4 more than an empty host I’ll take this with the stock driver and a NW XML emitter all day everyday. Its worth it for parts alone.

I’ve seen Neal’s form and it looks pretty nice aside from a couple confusing questions and a mode order or two missing. Its a good idea to sort out what is more popular and just go with it.

Totally agree, JohnnyMac! I will have to withdraw my “pre-order” of a host, and probably get another complete light instead.

yes, I just went on the list to get to the desired 200 units.. The light doesnt really appeal to me.
But again, I could probably change my mind again tomorrow, and still get on the list...

What is the price difference? I haven't heard an official number yet. It will probably not be enough to sway me either, but I would like to hear it just in case. The host is what is special about this light. I have enough emitters of unspecified bin, tint, and cri and drivers to last a lifetime.

Seems to me that the person negotiating the group buy should determine how the light is going to be, preferably even before starting the group buy. It’s impossible to please everyone, there are so many different opinions, needs, wants….just impossible to take it all into consideration on something like this. These aren’t custom order special edition expensive lights, we shouldn’t act like we can each get exactly what we want and then expect it to be for bottom dollar. Customizing takes special expense, time, preparation and effort.

And even the logo itself. I think you (Krono) should pick how you want it to be and run with it. We could banter it back and forth here for weeks! lol There are some good suggestions put forth, and there have been a great many that liked a certain one. However you decide, I’m good with it.

I’ll probably be gifting the two I’m down for anyway. Or keeping one and gifting the one I currently have, in order to keep the BLF logo.

+1. Just make a decision and roll with it. If this takes too much longer, you will see people buying into other lights and cancelling on here.

Krono, pick a setup and lets get these things shipped!

I went back to the first post to see when this thread started. It only started about a week ago, but it feels longer.

I’m sure kronological is working hard on getting things ironed out with the vendor. I guess everyone should be patient and await for the final specs.

+1 Let’s not lose our heads guys. This is not yer typical GB. This is gonna be a very special light, and I’d hate to mess it up by becoming impatient and rushing Krono and/or the manufacturer. Besides, I still wannna make it to 200 confirmed commitments so we get the BLF logo thrown in.
