Hello, experts.
I’m looking for a new headlamp for hiking, trail running, fishing, and general use.
It needs to be lightweight, weighing less than 100g, with flood, spot, warm, and red light. High CRI would be interesting. Over 500lm and good battery life.
I’ve looked at several websites, all the brands I’ve heard of, but it seems Nitecore is the closest to what I’m looking for. I was inspired by the current UT27 or HA23…
Any other recommendations for a lightweight headlamp? A discount coupon would also be very welcome. Even better if Nitecore sends me one for review… LOL
I’m afraid none of these small headlamps can maintain 500lm for more than 1 minute. The turbo levels are only used for a very short-time burst, and the high levels won’t last long either before dropping in brightness.
IMHO 100~200lm would be sufficient for night running. If you want extreme lightweight and higher CRI, UT27 wound be perfect. If you have a limited budget, then HA23 wound be fine (the light feels comfortable to me though it has a ~70 CRI for all three color temperatures).
If you do need a stable output of 500lm or more, you’ll need to turn to bigger ones with 18650 batteries (~150g). For example the Nitecore HC65 UHE, which also features a high CRI with neutral white light.
