well, why lie… i’m not THAT kind of shooter, lol
100 to 200/300 is my usual thing.
I have been to a real 1000 yard range, its on the competition curcuit… but i dont compete.
I got to shoot a 7mm “allen magnum”, full blown custom rig. A real SWAT sniper was my “spotter” for all the many wind flags, or i couldnt have done it. I have the bench technique and trigger control? But, i dont read wind yet.
i got picked out of a line of shooters for my bench technique. I had to pass the rig owner and spotter “tests”. IE, i had to touch the verylight trigger without touching it off. Easier said than done with a trigger measured in ounces instead of pounds, lol.
then i had to demonstrate that i could “send it” on command, and within under 1 second of the issued command.
after 3 “send it” commands with proper response? we went to live fire (7mm allen magnum? is a 338 Lapua, blown out and de-tapered and basically “A.I.’d” containing over 100 grains of very slow powder)
really high winds, and multiple switch winds… the pro competitor was my spotter, and going on his wind reading… i was rewarded with a 3 shot group that came in at just under 1/2MOA @ 1000yds in really hgh and bad winds that switched back and forth and every which way.
I always WONDERED what i could “do” with a high end rig, i got to find out… it wa a RUSH to find out i could do it, and that my bench technique was up to the task, as well as being able to work with a pro spotter.
i lack only experience to read wind now.

one of the most rewarding days of my life, i tell you.
