Has anyone tried DIY AR coatings for lenses or optics?

Like the title says, has anyone tried to do some sort of DIY anti-reflective coating on their own lenses or optics?

What material did you use?

Was it a success or not?

For lenses where a pre-made AR option exists, just buying an AR lens is surely the easier and more cost-effective option. But maybe I want an AR lens for my B158 for example…

commercial? i think its a chemical vapor deposition process? dont quote me though…

saabluster over in CPF did it with the lenses of the original DEFT back in 2008-2010. He also made the lenses himself. I don’t remember if he ever explained the process though and what kind of transmission rat ehe achieved.

Some time ago I mailed several manufacturers of AR coated glass, none agreed to coat Carclo lenses….
