Was looking at my favorite tool news website, toolguyd.com and todays article features a Milwaukee worklight with their newest battery pack…a single cell USB rechargeable that Milwaukee calls “RedLithium USB rechargeable battery pack”. The gimmick is that it doesn’t require a special charger, just USB. Looks like it might be the first implementation of 20700 or 21700 form factor that I’m aware of (outside of Metabo). I searched a bit and couldn’t come up with any details, does anybody have any more details?

Rover LED Specs and Features
445 lumens TrueView output (what’s TrueView?)
2 brightness settings – 445 lumens, 100 lumens
Runtime of 2 hrs on high, 11 hrs on low
IP54 water and dust resistant
2ft braided micro USB charging cable
Built-in fuel gauge
Charges to 80% in under 1 hour when using 2.1A wall plug
11hrs x 100 lumens is not a bunch of juice considering that that is out of a number of efficient COB emitters.
2.1mah/8 (assuming charging is linear which it is not) = 263mah x 10 = 2630mah 100% sized cell humm not 20700 or 21700 territory

I rebuilt my old 12V lithium hackzall batt awhile back and it had 3 Samsung 1900mah(?) 18650s (I believe they were a teal/green color). I put 30q's back in.
I'm not sure what mAh the newer packs have but I'm pretty sure they are still Samsung 18650's. I have seen some of the first "red lithiums" packs that were cracked open from falling off a roof. They had pink cells inside. Definitely 18650.
My employer recently purchased a new Milwaukee 18V lithium wet/dry shop vac with the new "red lithium" pack. IIRC I remember seeing "18650" somewhere on the pack data plate.
This is all 2016 and older stuff so I have no idea what their doing right now.
