HD Video Review: Lumintop PS03 Triple Emitter XML2 Tripod Mountable Flashlight

Okie dokie. Here is my latest HD video review. It’s of the Lumintop PS03- I got a chance to review it as part of Lumintop’s global testing campaign for the PS03. The light is a triple emitter XML-2 U2, that’s similar in size to a sky ray king. It’s not exactly a thrower, kind of like the SRK, but it’s bright! Let’s see, I actually forgot to say it in the video but I wasn’t able to detect PWM on any mode- and if you watch the video- since everything is a video shot and not a still, you’ll notice that the video doesn’t pick up any PWM either. A fun fact is that I used quite a bit of off camera lighting in the dark scenes with other flashlights I own- including my Armytek headlamps and my Sunwayman D40A with diffuser.

What I like about the light:

  1. No PWM
  2. Mode Spacing
  3. High quality construction
  4. User Interface
  5. Tripod mountable
  6. Constant brightness

What could be improved:

  1. A true low mode or moonlight mode.
  2. A longer turbo mode, although I’m sure it’s limited for circuit protection/heat.
  3. Addition of a NW or WW version.

Ok how about a little about the making of the video, in case anyone is curious. I’m trying to make the videos a bit shorter, to keep them fast moving, with plenty of different shots and quick editing. Anyway this video was shot with my new cameras, and I tried to get away from using still shots and just stick with video (set to manual of course). I shot the videos like I would stills, because white balance is set to 4000k, and shutter, iris, iso/gain are all set to manual. It’s shot in 1080p in 24fps, to kind of give it a cinematic look. It was also color graded in software to improve the contrast and colors a bit over the original video. I used a professional microphone for the voiceover to improve my audio. As always there’s a bunch of bad jokes. And feel free to ask any questions- because I’m sure I left some stuff out. Also make sure you set youtube to 720p or 1080p to see the video in the highest quality possible.

I have no idea what this light retails for or when it will be available for sale, but as soon as I know, I’ll pass it on.

Cool vid!!

Thanks man! I had fun using my new cameras. As I side note, doing this video has made me realize my newest c-mount lens sucks. That’s ok because it kind of adds to the look of some of the night shots.

LOL love your humour mate!
Thanks for the vid

Thanks for the video review , mhanlen .

Good job .

Well done mhanlen! I like your real-world approach in a flashlight review.

I wish all review videos and commercials on tv were like this. Your cameras made the video feel very professional.

Thanks Mark. I would suggest that, to me anyway, this driver is heading towards perfection.

Thanks. I try to use realistic lighting, and show the exactly light how I’d use it.

If I had another few lenses, it’d be even better!

I have no complaints about mode spacing or constant brightness. Plus I probably wouldnt be satisfied with the moonlight mode anyway. About the only lights I’m 100% happy with them on are the Armytek Tiara, Flexcandles Asgard, and the V11R. All the larger lights I have, the moonlight is just a bit too bright.

Very cool video and review!! Creepy Kinda Ghost Adventurist Flashlight Review! Liked that old chandelier too! Very Cool!!!

Great Video —-Thanks

You are Great mhanlen!!! Thanks for the review.

Yeah it’s weird isn’t it? The building hasn’t had power in many years, but they didn’t take that out.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, glad you liked it!

Most helpful review and fun to watch. That is saying something for reviewing a flashlight!

Great review, very professional with a touch of humor, good job. I just got my PS03 today and really like it from first impressions.

Thanks guys, glad you liked it!
