Headlight for cooking BBQs

Gday folks … can someone recommend me a headlight for cooking a BBQ where theres not enough light.

I have a cheapo xm-l one already that works well for everything else however the white light makes it really hard to tell if the meat is cooked properly

A headlamp with a Nichia 219 would be ideal, but I don't know of any.

How about a L10 with this headband? You might be able to attach the light to the brim of a hat with this clip.

lol. I read the title and and a incandescent flashback. I thought you wanted a headlight so freaking awesome that you can cook Bar-B-Q with the heat from it!!!

Yeah, it needs to be a warm/High-CRI light. I used a warm XR-E dropin from Manafont and it works very well. I built a warm-white XM-L drop-in for the same purpose and the XR-E had much better color rendition.

The single-mode dropin I purchased isn't available any longer, but the 3-mode version is:

Fasttech has a drop-in listed as a "warm" but the reviews say it is a cooler tint, and the picture shows the die which looks like a cool-white emitter as well.

How about a Zebralight H502c or H502d

CRI 85, Luxeon emitter

Tchibo has sold a flashlight with a magnet, and all metal case to use on metal BBQ tools.
I think it has 0.5W led

Well that would definately be awsome as well … but i dont think id enjoy having it strapped to my head for too long hahaha

If you don't already have a receding hairline, you would after that.

Zebralight h502d or h502c would be good but I use my spark st6-460 nw and its pretty good. Although my brothers h502d ecxells in this situation IMO.

Yeah I was cooking steak on a grill with almost no light once when I was in Iraq. I pulled out mu Trustfire R5-A3 with it’s bluish XP-G, thought my steaks were done.

Nope, pretty bloody but still tasted good!

Umm bloody steaks! How I like them that way!

Yeah I like high temp at 550-600 degrees for a couple mins per side. This was a charcoal grill with a lower temp, and steaks procured in the middle east………

At least I didn’t get sick :stuck_out_tongue:

i think the ultrafire h6 would do nicely.

anyone got suggestions for lights to put on a grill? i think i seen some grill lights that attaches onto the handle or somewhere like that…

Well, you could try a UV headlamp and the steak should light up less and less as its cooked
