Hello and new edc flashlight recommendations

Hello guys,

New member here saying hello and already asking for recommendations :slight_smile:
I’m not a flashaholic or anything like that but i like to have a flashlight at hand.
I own an Atactical A1S and love it but to carry around all day it is a bit too big and heavy.
Now, i love the fact that is USB rechargeable and would like my newer one to be like that also.
I see that streamlight came out with the newer microstream and seems the one to get.
I like the size and the output.
Since you guys are in the know, i decided to ask you.
Do you think it’s the right decision?
Or do you know of anything else like it?

I’m too new to 18650 lights myself to give good recommendations, but welcome to the forum!

The “18650 Flashlights” subforum has a ton of related threads to browse through. I have a Convoy S2+ in the mail, but it doesn’t have usb charging biult in.

Can you be a little more specific. What size do you consider a EDC, pocket carry or holster.
How many lumens are you looking for and tint.
How much are you willing to spend.

I like the size of the microstream, i mean, something pen like, slim and small.
Clicky is also nice.
The output of 250l is great but i welcome something brighter :slight_smile:

One of my favorite AAA lights is the Olight I3e. Olight I3E EOS Black - Read Details | Olightworld.com
The clip is another 3 bucks but nice output on AAA but no clicky its a twisty.

Can you elaborate on your USB re-charge preferences? There are probably several different ways to recharge from USB.

Do you need to have micro-USB charging in the light?
Are you open to magnetic charging?
What about other connector types?
Do you prefer a rubber port-plug or unscrewing part of the light?

None are usb rechargeable though.

OK got it… basic Micro USB cable, similar form/size to a streamlight microstream.

The Jetbeam E01R is spot on physically. But can’t do anywhere near 250L OTF with an eneloop. I don’t believe there is a 1AAA that will do 250L from a NiMH.

Maybe there is a 10440 light that can do something north of 200L… I am not sure though.

Heres the Ultratac K18… I think you have to take the head off and replace it with the charging cap.
I’m not sure how good its charger is.
Its not going to do 370L OTF from a NiMH or alkaleak…. ~150 OTF tops.

AAA size, usb rechargeable, clicky switch……… pretty limited with those needs.
