Hello from Edinburgh

Hello all,

I have a feeling I may have been here before many years ago but couldn’t track down old login or email.

Flashlights are one of my addictions along with many others that include all things radioactive, radio, folding knives, and general tat.

My current collection is very Convoy heavy but while my [never sees any use but always in my backpack] everyday carry is a Nitecore NU25 headlamp and my [actual use] lights are:

  • Battered Convoy T3 (Nichia 219b 4k) - it’s even taken tumbles in the wash
  • Even more weathered Sofirn C01 (Sophia high cri led) - why aren’t these a thing any longer?
  • Lumintop Tool AA UV (365nmish) - for fluorescent/phosphorescent stuff
  • Alonefire UV-395nm AAA - for uranium glass

If out and about at night there’s a Convoy C8+ with SFT40 and an S2+ with a 219c.

For more ‘niche’ applications there’s the S2+s in UV and IR.

For collection purposes only there’s other Sofirn C01s, miscellaneous Convoys, miscellaneous Sofirns. I honestly don’t even know what’s on the shelves any more.

Have fun everyone

Welcome to BLF m0ptp B!

Looks like you have a good start with some nice flashlights. :slightly_smiling_face:

Welcome! I’m currently located in Kilmarnock. Nice to hear about a fellow lumen enthusiast nearby!

Thanks everyone for the very warm (3000k high cri) welcome :joy:

I’m a little south of you…well a fair bit south of you, down in West Sussex. Most of my cousins on my dad’s side live around Edinburgh, though the meetups are increasingly rare these days.

I like this:

We had a few pieces many years ago, and I’m not sure your age, but back then if anything glowed, it was radioactive. We used to get hi bounce glow balls from the toy shop, then they got taken off the market and my mum told me it was because they were dangerous. We played with them for hours :grimacing:

I’m mid 50s, classical Gen X. I have no idea how we made it this far. A lot of the stuff we had, if not physically dangerous, was guaranteed to emotionally scar you for life

Welcome to BLF!

Ah yes, I know this addiction well!

Agreed, I still often pocket carry my C01S and think wish Sofirn would release an updated version.

I really wish they did, maybe in different led colours too. I have a C01 high cri and red in my collection along with a C01S. I then have another C01 which is part of my daily use. I love that warm light.

Yup, anodising to match a full Cree XEG colour line-up, I’d buy the full set :stuck_out_tongue:

… imagine they came in a presentation box too
