Hello from Sweden!

Yes, PCB is a mess! Green led on rled place instead of gled, but yours seems to be upside down …

Thanks again MK96!! Sadly it didn’t fix it. I removed everything on it to draw the schematic of it. Should look like this.

It seems like the little board is missing a feed, I get 0V no matter how I measure on the wires. Perhaps something fried when I connected the battery when I got it and it had loose wires inside it. Anyway I got feed up with it and got crazy…when I connect the black wire to battery( red wire on main board) the light comes to life but I can’t get it to change mode.

Does anyone know how the mode change work on the main board?

It seems to be just an ordinary button, not switch. If you connect red and black (from the schematic you draw) together for a short time simulating the “button pressed and released” it just doesn’t do anything? Nothing fried on the main driver PCB?

Hello! Sorry for the delay!

I’ve tried and I can’t get it to change mode no matter what i try. I can’t see any damage on the board. I will try some more but I think I will use this light to see what it can do and then perhaps buy a new one.

I’m really happy with my other modified light, it’s bright enough but perhaps not as wide as I would like, but that is easy to fix with two of them… I’m curious to see what this broken one can do therefor I want to try that one first.

Is it risky to use the standard batteries that comes with these lights when you are starting to drawn more current? If I’m correct I read in one of the links that the batteries could explode?

I need bigger batteries, will get a LiPo one later but not now.

Hello Martin!
I wouldn’t try the cheap Chinese cells. There are some other solutions like to buy a cell holder (like this one) and brand name protected cells like Sanyo, Samsung, Panasonic. Drawing ~6-7A from cheap battery reduces its life but can also cause fire/vent/explosion :frowning:

Doh! Why didn’t this cell holder show up on my searches? I’ve spent so much time mucking around on making my own holder and just it got right a few weeks ago, and all could have been avoided if I’d seen this! Arrrg! |(
