Hello Guys & Girls :)

Well ive been looking sometime at getting into Torchs, I don’t know why…

I have a 4D Maglite that I bought 2 years ago its great, I could light up an entire cliff face whilst on Holiday but I know its poor compared to LED torchs.

I’m looking at getting myself a Convoy C8, I already have my 18650’s and chargers from E-Cigarette mods.

Well anyway my names Ash, I am also looking for some advice in getting my Girlfriend a torch for when the late nights come in.

It needs to powerful for its size, shes only petite herself so nothing to monsterous I was looking at:

Any recommendations are appreciated, preferably from FastTech :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks,
Ash

Hi Ash,

Welcome!

Good idea to get the girlfriend in early on this habit of yours!

An sk68 clone is also nice, as it doesn’t need 18650, but 1 xAA, but also perks up if you want to drop in a 14500, just have to be sure the light can handle it…

The uinfire (B68?) is the light from fasttech I am talking about….

Anyway, have fun here, and watch the wallet…. Although pounds do go a long way…

Cheers

Hi Ash and welcome to BLF! I would recommend a Convoy s2:

Much better build quality than the zoomie, plus it’s waterproof and a lot brighter.

Hi Ash. Welcome to the forum.

If you want a slightly sleeker, but tougher alternative to the that C8, this light may interest you. There is a group buy in the works at the moment for it here.

That light for you GF is nice if you want her to have both flood and throw options in the same light. You loose a good deal of the lumen output in those aspheric lights. It's a compromise. A more general purpose light like the Convoy 18650 tube lights might be a better alternative depending on how she will use it.

Best Wishes

We're very glad to have you here, Huggett!

Welcome to BLF, Ash!

Well, the SK-68 is a nice beginner light (it got me interested in Cree LEDs) but I’d recommend something like a Convoy S5, it also has low voltage warning so less worry about over discharging and is a nice size, not too big, not too small. Is she familiar with 18650 cells? There are compact chargers such as ML-102 or XTAR MC0 that make charging quite straightforward.
