Hello!

Hello!

Rather, just get this: http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/palight-c8-r5-led-5mode-memory-led-flashlight-black-118650-p-5832

Cheap and already premade. Saves the hassle of DIY unless you like it.

Alternatively there are fancy XTAR A01 & R01 with integarated chargers (fancy for in car charging when in need) but be sure to check the emitter as those are apparently available with a bunch of emitter choices. Both should be HA finished if you like such scratch proofnes. Bewere of the reflector as those can come with SMO or OP ones.

The cheapest (or one of the cheapest) solution however is the manfont premade palight.

Welcome to BLF, Flashination!

The most practical way to convert that C8 pill is to swap out the emitter and driver. Can you solder?

Johnny

welcome to BLF. Swap the led and driver if you can or just buy another light. Try kd c8 xml.

Welcome to BLF...

Welcome to BLF.

Here is a parts list if you can solder you can make a nice C8 firebreather.

If you can do some simple soldering this parts list will make your C8 into a fire breather and you will be able to use 2 cr123s or an 18650.

Welcome to the boards, used to be in the Army back in the day and loved Tx.....I was stationed in El Paso and enjoyed my stay there.

Welcome to BLF, flashination! By the way, nice user name. It looks like it might be a contraction of flashlight and fascination, though that is just an uneducated guess.

Met some Americans in August for the first time. First American I had a conversation with was a security guard at the seminary I was attending for lectures - just have 16,000 words to write in the next 3 weeks as a result of that.

My flight was 6 hours late thanks to a rainstorm in NY. So the guard let me in.

I liked every American I met.

The guard was a great guy. I've dealt with a lot of British security guys.

The American ones are a lot better!

Welcome to BLF!

Hope you have as much fun here as I do.

Just ordered the parts. I've been watching some of the youtube soldering tutorals & practicing. Thanks!

+1 This would be the best option on cost basis. The LED ill cost you $5-7 and you will need some thermal glue.

I forgot to add you are going to need some adhesive to glue the emitter to the pill. I use Fujik but there are many others used for computers that work fine.

May I suggest you upgrade .... to XM-L

low current XM-L in a p60 host should rock

Solarforce L2 host from solarforce sales

http://solarforce-sales.com/product_detail.php?id=247&s=1&t=FB

and combined with : Low current XM-L drop in , such as ...

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/cree-xml-t6-5-mode-6700k-450-lumen-smooth-aluminum-drop-in-module-with-textured-reflector-55026

or single mode

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/cree-xml-t6-1-mode-6700k-450-lumen-smooth-aluminum-drop-in-module-55025

but if you just want the emitter ,

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/cree-xp-g-r51b-7000k-350lm-emitter-with-14mm-base-44305

To change emitter =

unsolder + - from base

remove old emitter from pill

replace with XP-G

re solder + -

when assembling watch out for shorts ...

crushing wires to base my = short

reflector may short on + -

if you go L2 and XM-L

you will need 18650 batteries and charger ...

Or just decide on a battery , Like AA , and maybe buy a AA light ...

It will be small , fit in the pocket , easy to feed , and offer decent output ..

So many options ...

If your simply checking a building , a decent AA light could do the job ...

If you want a serious light , you should consider P60 XM-L [ will still fit in the pocket ]

Or any of the larger XM-L lights [ Mag replacement ]

Manafont.com Dealextreme.com Kaidomain.com just a few places to window shop

Welcome flash; I'm sure you won't have a problem buying just the lights you need . . . and no more than that.

Howdy, fellow San Antonian!

I'm up in Irving now, but am always back on a monthly basis. Best Mexican food in the world--including Mexico! Better than LA, Colorado, and New Mexico easily. I also worked Security and do currently for a hotel up here.

Having experimented with quite a few lights now, the KD C8 XM-L (or any K-series XM-L), the UF 980L, and the Trustfire X8 and the bigger contenders. They won't disappoint.

Welcome!
