I got this module part online and wanted to convert it into a lep flashlight. The seller says it is a module parted from BMW laser headlight and they don’t know the specs. Now I want to find a proper driver for this. Could anyone tell me how to drive it properly please?
Roger that, Colonel Raccoon.
Really hard to tell, but is there a picture of the other side of the pcb?. Reading the datasheet for that buck IC its a dual 1.6A driver, if the other side of the pcb has 2 inductors for each output that get paralleled into the laser module that mean it can supply 3.2A total, if there is only one inductor then its only driving the laser at 1.6A max.
Basically at max they might just drive it 3A, maybe 2A continuous?.
But on Ebay you could get those buck adjustable cc blue laser diode driver and maybe play around with it?, really hard to tell since we don’t know what laser diode they are using in that.
With that driver and if you have a mean to measure the voltage and current output, you can then use the driver and slowly increase the current output while also measuring the forward voltage of the laser till you reach around 4V and keep an eye on the temp of the laser module and see it from there?.
Someone else probably have a better answer.
An XHP 35 driver would
be easier to fix in a flashlight

Ah yeah, that makes more sense to use in a flashlight!
thanks for the method testing its capacity, really appreciate it!
