Help choosing a AAA EDC

How does it work without a driver? Care to do a review? :stuck_out_tongue: I’m still deciding whether to get the e05ss, thrunite or the dqg 26650 as a powerhouse edc

This thread made me buy a flashlight .... :)

Oooh what did u get?

i will suggest you to check HKE out on ebay or try to deal with thrunite directly on their website

A Ti ....

I was thinking of buying a Maratac MK3 , but ..... The Ti seems to have higher output , will see .

My Tank 007 TK 703 just arrived 2 days ago- my 3rd modern AAA light. It might replace the Tank 007 E09 on my keychain, I haven’t yet decided that. My first was a Fenix E05. I wonder who can first spot the trend I’m taking? No comments on build quality as these are all excellent. Haven’t tested runtimes but I replace batteries often so my EDC stays at top readiness. Batteries used are Eveready Alki’s and Trustfire 600mA unprotected 10440’s.

TK703 has single mode, tail clicky, a decent gradual hotspot, useful spill, tailstands, and a 10440 makes it bright. Beam is ringy, no PWM, 2 small keyring holes limit TS unless ring is sideways (which I don’t mind, but it does strain the little rings this way). Switch is just below flush and not stiff; so may turn itself on in pocket. Gets warm enough so you’d feel that.

E09 has 3 modes (H-M-L), twisty, semi-defined hotspot, great even spill, tailstands, and a 10440 makes it bright. Beam is a perfect balance (to me) of hotspot and spill, PWM noticeable but not objectionable (all modes), “L” is moonish, 2 small keyring holes. Twist-switch smooth, long threads and stiff enough so no self-disassembly or unwanted turn-ons but easy to one-hand, Gets quite warm on Hi, especially w/ 10440.

E05 has 3 modes (L-M-H), twisty, defined hotspot, great even spill, tailstands. Didn’t have 10440’s when my sister “inherited” it. Beam is a perfect balance of hotspot and spill, PWM barely noticeable on low modes, “L” is above “moonish”, keyring hole large single in a”Y” shaped extrusion, Twist-switch smooth, long threads and stiff enough. Got a little warm on Alkys.

Going back further, these replaced the AAA incan Mag Solitaires which ate through keyring holes, disassembled, and tailcap unscrewed with so much regularity that I gave up on them w/keyrings as being useless. The one thing I like about the Solitaires is their thin sleek single-diameter design, something I wish the better lights had. Harbor Freight cheapo 4XLR41’s w/ side switches turned themselves on too much and like the Streamlight Nano which replaced them ate too much battery $$$ to use regularly. Plus the HF ones fell apart faster than the Solitaires. I keep the Nano as a EDC back-up in the other pocket. I can’t understand the bad press that one gets, mine is uber-reliable.

And I ain’t even started well with these single AAA lights. It will take me awhile to justify trying the expensive ones- I feel those are overpriced for little improvement. The cheapest ones seem like junk. That leaves about 10 more good ones and a few dozen ‘budget’ models available and I feel compelled to try them all. I’ve always been fascinated with keyring lights and I think the single AAA form-factor is as small a flashlight as you’ll use regularly without hesitation or reserve. AAA cells can be bought everywhere, and if the one you like takes 10440’s so much the better. EDC lights are for use, not for saving to use in emergencies only. If you have light on your keyring you will never find yourself in the dark and with this form-factor it will be a very useful light.

Yep, I’ve become a mini Flash-a-holic, Grade AAA Rating, and if this keeps up I may have to seek investors

Bought E99Ti before... Disappointing... glad I got rid of it without making a lost.

Nice collection! ! I’m still waiting for my DQG AAA clicky to arrive :frowning:

I like Olight i3s (brand, quality, moonlight mode) and DQG tiny AAA NW (SS design, light color, largest spot).

Lower price
