Help identify a hairstyle ?

I always cut my own hair and I’ve gotten quite good at it over the years, but I’ve grown tired of the various hairstyles that I usually opt for, so I’m interested in trying something new.

I’m not familiar with the names of certain styles, so I could use somhelp there.

My favorites are the french crop and short mohawk… but I recently watched a show called Average Joe (quite good imo) with Deon Cole - the comedian and Old Spice guy - and he had some type of fade. Anyone recognize the style? Another one was Grady from Fury - recently watched as well - and I think I know the style but I’m not certain.

I don’t know how to post images but here’s a couple direct links

The first cut is a high-top fade
The second example is an abomination
Home-made looking crappy bowl cut

Looks like the dewd’s sitting on a tank, so yeah, styling options might be limited. :joy:

I figured #1 was some kind of fade, but fiik the different names.

I just do a mild high’n’tight that’s minimal stubble on the sides/back, and just barely longer on top. That way if I f-up and can’t fix it, I just buzz it all over 'til it grows in some. :joy:

I’ll “fade” it at the border to blend it, so it’s not a Moe haircut or anything.

There was a webpage that showed like 30 different "high’n’tight"s, lots of which I wouldn’t even try to call that. Like almost clean-shaven on the sides but a big mop of hair on top. Like, that’s… uhhh… no.

High Fade, High top fade, curly high fade…

If you go to a barber, it is always easier to bring a pic of a haircut you want

A picture can be useful but sometime a customer will demonstrate a preference for a style that they don’t have the hair or face for . It may be that their hair is too thin , wrong texture , or that the contours and or lines of the cut will not flatter the wearer as well as the model .

Wait, are you 46 years old or have you been a Master Barber for 46 years?

He popped into this world with a scissors in one hand and a clipper in the other. Doctors were shocked!

When you sit in a good barber’s chair
He can make you look quite debonair
He will look at the state
Of what covers your pate
You’ll look so good all will declare

If you try to cut your own hair
At times it might look sort of fair
But your friends might be shocked
At the state of your locks
If you don’t exercise enough care

If people are starting to stare
At the mess you’ve created up there
You may have to stop
By the old barber shop
And let the guy shave your head bare

Wow, that is quite impressive! :+1:
No offense, but I was pretty sure that you were older than me (though I don’t remember why.)
I’m 48 years old, and I’m not an expert in any field.
